my daz studio iray is super slow . i have an rtx2080, but Im definitely not getting these kind of results(that video shows the same graphic card I'm using, on the same daz studio version)https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2019/08/05/daz-studio-nvidia-rtx/

i cannot get real time feedback like that, every time i change a parameter or move the camera, the preview comes out of iray mode, (grayscale viewport) and takes a couple seconds before starting to render(which makes my computer super slow and takes forever- on a much simpler scene that that one and without characters)

and i got the latest Nvidia drivers too

anyone has any clue whats going on?

The video is just shifting the viewpoint, which is always faster. Actually making changes to the scene (materials or geometry - and posing is chnaging the geometry) means it has to be reuploaded, which can take a few moments (and s more dependent on the slot the GPU is in than the GPU itself). Of coruse you should check that the GPU is doing the rendering - it's quite easy to drop to CPU using the iRay preview mode in my experience, I try to pause betweena ctions until the status bar shows it is done updating.

but even just rotating the camera, my iray stops rendering , grayscale viewport(standard shading) then takes a moment to go back to "iraying"

    :(

after so more testing seems like i need to change environment mode to either sun-sky only, or dome only and then the interactive viewport behaves like in the video

everytime i have scene option (either by itself or the others) my viewport just freezes.

    is this normal?

Turn off Headlamps in Render Settings and switch it to "Never". It works wonders
