Mac installation for a new user

Somebody with a Mac is having trouble installing Bryce: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/39804/#583541
I'm not Mac savvy, so I'm afraid to answer this post, but they say they have a Mac Mini i5 running Mac OS10.9 (64 bits). I saw thread
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/19948/ which says "Bryce 7 is Not currently compatible with OS X 10.7 and above". Is this user out of luck and should be looking for a refund, or can it still be made to work?
