Camera no longer floats around model, cms issues, model limits are strange

The default perspective camera, which spins around the default Genesis 8 female when I use the cube, doesn't spin around the model when I drag. It spins around the ground it is above, how do I make it so it spins around the model again when I drag?

I can't click on the model to select a bone to move. I used to be able to drag around the model and double click on a part to move it, how do I get that back?

The Genesis 8 female model's movement limits are severely limited. When trying to bend the character forward she goes only a tiny bit with the slider at max. She only twists a little with the twist slider at max. When I try to move her hands it won't go up, the slider maxes out at an incredibly slight incline. How do I get the full range of motion back to where it was?

When I fire up Daz3d I get an error message, "a valid postgresql cms connection could not be established." I specifically re-downloaded and re-installed DAZPostgresqlCMS_9.3.4 and no change. I searched for "postgresql", "cms", "content manager service", and "content manager" and found no such thing in my list of blocked and allowed programs in my firewall.

I've uninstalled Daz, deleted everything I had, deleted every folder related to Daz I could find then re-installed, it changed nothing.

Daz3d worked perfectly well, with no issues whatsoever, at the beginning of April. Now nothing I do changes anything and nothing works like it used to. What happened?

Thank you very much.

The cube spins the view around the world centre, I believe, while the orbit command spins around the current focal point - try hitting the Aim icon at top-right, with your figure selected, to set the focal point.

That's probably the tool you have selected - make sur that in the Tools menu you have Node Selection or one of the Transform tools active. Also check Tool Settings as that governs what those tools can select - it may be set to Root Node Only

I'm not sure what is going on here - does it stay the same if you save the scene and reopen? Is it always true of the figure now, or only true with the figure in certain scenes?

What security software and OS are you using?

Thank you for responding Richard, I appreciate it.

I uninstalled and deleted everything a second time then reinstalled. Still get the "a valid PostgreSQL CMS connection could not be established" resource error on start-up of program.

I'm using Win10, updated everything yesterday evening, and Norton 360.

I don't see an Aim icon. Ctrl+Shft+A makes the perspective camera focus on the model but doesn't make it rotate around it like it did at the begining of the month.

Node selection tool makes it so I can't move the camera while selecting, as I could before, and it isn't working as a selection tool either. I click on the model's legs, head, hands, arm, whatever, and all it does is highlight the model as a whole. Double click does nothing. Not having the model selected doesn't change anything either.

Abdomen Lower bend maxes out at 35 and twist and side-side max out at 15.

Saving the scene, selecting a new scene and reopening the previous scene doesn't change the selection tool, fix the rotation issue or change the parameters of the model.

    Thank you

If clicking with the Node Selection tool selects only the figure then it's the option in Tool Settings that iss et to Root Node Only - you want either of the other options, depending on whether you want it to go straight to the bone or to select the figure first and only then go to seelcting bones on subsequent clicks.

Aim is a right-click on the Frame icon, the corners around a + icon - but it does the same as ctrl-shift-A. That works for me - but note that it orbits around the selected node's centre point, which may not be the desired result - espeically while you can select only root nodes.

If you go to Edit>Preferences>CMS Settings is there a value for the Content Cluster folder?

It's great fun to comment on CMS issues. And a solution has never been offered. Like me, there will be thousands of users who can NEVER connect to PostgreSQL CMS. We hope for a solution soon. Many scripts use the database and it is impossible to use them. It has been years since this problem for it to be fixed once and for all.

There isn't a problem, though - for most people theer isn't an issue, for some (and thousands is just a number plucked from the ether) there are issues. They may be related to folder permissions, to security software, to soem other kind of utility, to corrupt databases, and probably other possibilities.

Didn't know there were selection tool options, found them and changed them, thank you very much Richard, I very sincerely appreciate your help. Am I incorect in thinking there was a time I could move the camera, with it's axis set to the model, and use a node selection tool at the same time without switching between tools?

The CMS Settings says the Cluster Directory is in C:/Program Files/DAZ 3d/DAZStudio4. I previously changed the port number to 1800 based off the advice of another thread, it changed nothing and I didn't think to save the number I replaced. Hindsight. 20/20. All that.

I read quite a few forum entries before I made a new thread Auto, there are a lot of them based around CMS from several different versions.

It worked perfectly fine at the begining of the month, not sure what caused the change.

I'm not quite sure what you mean - you an move the camera regardless of which tool is active.

That path is certainly going to be problematic as Windows protects the Program Files folders from non-admin processes (and DS should never be "run as administrator"). The default is in the AppData folder, but you can use any user-writable location.
