i am trying to use jpeg images as textures for nipple and areola.

i go into surfaces and nipple and browse for the file and insert it into diffuse colour, but all i get is a single colour on the workspace and render.

there are no details or definition on the nipple or areola.

also can anyone tell me the best resolution and dpi to use for the jpeg image.

would be grateful for any advice about this as i am now at a loss as to what i am doing wrong.

thanks in advance.

Is this a newly made figure or a standard figure? If it's newly made or not designed for Poser/DAZ Studio it may not be UV Mapped. if it is, and if you can use textures elsewhere on it it probably is mapped, then the problem is likely to be that you haven't lined the bits you want to use up with the template - you may be getting some of the background, for example.

its the standard figure, by template do you mean the g2f body jpeg.

you prob using the Lana texture that comes with Genesis female
she does not have nipples bought textures do
you need to look at her texture to see where they would be and add them as a layer or brush from your image in Gimp or photoshop to a copy for a better result
    then load that map in
or maybe buy some textures or look in freepository

its actually the bree texture on g2f with nipples turned on, can this be added as a separate jpeg or a modified version of the body jpeg.

take your image into an editor
I use Gimp, it is free
convert to png add alpha to layer then use a brush with a falloff to paint out the edges with the eraser brush
    edit copy the whole image
open the Bree texture and edit paste, use move and scale to line it up and click the little anchor that appears near the edge of the paste floating window to fix it in place
edit paste the other nipple the same way
    export under a new name
