easy environments - winter

is there a way to make Easy Environments - Winter, work with DS 4.12?  i made some great scenes with it in DS3, but it doesnt seem compatible with iray - everything renders pitch black and i cant make the lights work.  i think the skybox is excluding the distant lights.  is there a way round this, other than dumping 4.12 and going back to DS3?
