Daz Studio to 3ds MAX Character Studio / CAT Rig

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

Hi,
I am a software developer. And also for some time now I have been using Daz Studio and so far it has been great. But With the recent Additions of FUSE by Mixamo and Gepetto to 3ds Max (The 2 which are of lesser quality to Daz Studio) I have been thinking of building a plugin that allows you to use your Daz3d Models in 3ds Max as a Biped or CAT rig.
I am thinking of this kind of workflow
1. Export to FBX (Contains Rigging information And Morphs)
2. Use DazFBXtoMax Plugin to bring in the model as either a CAT Rig or a Biped Rig

This is what I am thinking. I would appreciate if I can be pointed in the right direction and I dont my using some of my free time to work with a team to accomplish this.

Just a plugin to ship your model and textures, rigged, and ready to animate in max with your expression morphs

Sounds like a great idea for those that use 3DMax - that would make a great coupling. Hope you get support!

Don't forget that FBX will remove the multiple weightmaps per joint that DS has with the TriAx system. I don't know if 3DSMax can have those, if it can you may be better off with a plain .duf importer

    Hello dukefama,

I am very interested in exactly what you described and currently looking for help on this. Did you have any progress with it? is there anything I can help with to make this happen?
