FBX morph memory hog in Cinema4D problem

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

Hello, :vampire:

My workflow recently consisted of export character with bone and morph from DAZ (as FBX), and import it into Cinema4D (R15).

The rig and morph works perfectly in Cinema4D. I can pose character any way I want.

 But somehow, the pose morph function in C4D consumes tons of RAM in a blink of an eye. Every change to the morph parameter, even the slightest, eat hundreds megabytes of RAM. I have 12gb of RAM, and I have to quit C4D 5 minutes later after adjusting some face morph, because Windows told me that I ran out of memory, the first time in my life actually.

I also test it with Maya, both the rig and morph works fine, without memory hog!

My guess is this might be C4D problem rather than DAZ, but before I give up the morph function in C4D completely, do anyone know any workaround or any tips for me?

Big thanks!

How many morphs are you including in the FBX file? have you tried being more selective, if you aren't initially? Presumably you could always export a morph as an OBJ and then load that into C4D and transfer it to the imported figure (I assume there's a way to do that in C4D, I'm not familiar with it) if you later decided you needed.

    Hi Richard,
That's good point you mention, because I indeed exported the whole head.CTRL morph (or even worse, all of CTRL)

I then try selectively choose just only 3 and the memory consumption is a lot better and acceptable! Guess I have to live with less morph.

Thank you for the help! :)
