Why are some figures lighter/glossier than others?

Hello!

For some reason the Mateo for Michael 7 figure shows up as very bright and glossy when rendered (he is on the far left side of the attached image).

Looks kind of similar to the glossy and unrealistic texture of the Gensis 2 base male figure (on the far right)

For the middle two I took a base model and applied a skin, and the result is a more colorful, natural look. But why won't the Mateo model turn out that way? Is there a setting I need to apply to take the gloss and brightness away?

I know that I am only a beginner and have not played with lighting yet so that may be part of the problem. But please let me know how to make the Mateo model look more like the others after rendering.
