NOOB Question about changing clothing (prop) colors

I have purchased the Goldie Locks Outfit and really like it! One thing that I would like to do though is to change the umbrella so that it isn't transparent but rather black with white lines and red hearts. It took me a while to figure out but I found the folder under Textures where the files are stored. Is it simply a matter of copying the jpg file and changing it to the colors that I want? And if so then how would I apply that new jpg to the umbrella in the scene?

Pretty much so, yes!  You may also want to look at the Cutout Opacity as it sounds like ethat may have a map there if is seeming to be translucent.  Back to the overall colour: in the Surfaces tab you wil see a whole list of settings/paarments when you click on a surface. A lot wil have a little triangle by them - click on that and it will expand into yet more settings!  Look for: Base> Diffuse. With luck you will see a Base Color setting that has a) a colour against it (possibly/probably white) and to the left of that a mini-icon showing a texture map. Click on that littl eicon and it will show all the texture maps in the scene, and at the top 4 options, of which you'll wnat to pick Browse. That will open up a folder brrwser (exploer in Windows) with the directory teh one that holds that texture map.  If you wich ti pick another map, select it here, or by browsing to anotehr folder that contains your own.

The none option will remove the map entirely (which you may wish to do for Cutout Opacity).

Haha, above answer is very nice, but if you have extra money and don't want spend too much time, why not try its add on ?devil

    Thank you both!

I do indeed have the add on but the umbrella is hard to see in some situations because it is transparent with a patterns on it. I want to make it not transparent so the umbrella and the patterns show up better.

OK, understandable. The easy way is to turn you mouse to Surface selection tool (Alt+Shift+M), click the umbrella surface, then you can find a lot of dials in the Surface Tab, just try to change Cutout Opacity, Transparency/translucency, colors, maps, etc.
