Issues with grainy renders (mostly in the shadows)

    Areas that are "sheltered" will always be slowest to converge, as fewer light paths reach them. Adding some extra fill light may help, upping the render quaility may help (Iray takes longer to decide the well-lit areas are converged, giving the shadowy areas more time to converge), increasing the target convergence ratio may help if Iray then has tot ake account of part of the problem areas. One ption is to do a spot render of the problema rea to a New Window (Tool Settings pane), save as Tiff or PNG so it gets a mask, and plunk that on top of the original full render.
