Tutorials on creating scripts for DAZ Studio?

I am very interested in creating a script for my personal use in DAZ Studio, but I'd like to know if there are any Internet tutorials on how to program a script?

I know of one tutorial set: winterbrose - renderosity - don't think I can post commercial link.

They exists, but I don't know if they are at your level or if they are good.

There are many scripting examples referenced in the nearby Daz Studio scripting forum -in  a 'sticky' forum topic at the top, I believe. Lots of good/helpful advice there too.

    Hope this helps,

The way I did it was to inspect other scripts.  e.g. MCasual has dozens on his google site.  The object model is documented too.

The Scripting Made Simple series is quite good, but they never finished it but stopped at volume 6 (at the end it says what's coming in the next volume which never came) so it only explains basic QT scripting.  Not sure if it's available anymore either.

It would be very nice to find a "getting started" type tutorial with some simple examples.  I can find lots of API reference and probably useful examples, but how to start is where I'm stuck.  Do I/should I install a specific script/text editor?  Do I need to place the files somewhere specific?  What do I name them?  Is there an interpreter/compiler to check for errors?  How much programming background do I need?  I didn't see much to answer this in the DAZ doc center.  Is this what the winterbrose is?  I haven't seen it.

  • Hi, Did you ever find any tutorial material? I have watched the winterbrose videos and although useful as basic javascripting lessons, its doesn't feel directly relevant to daz studio. I was hoping to find something that would describe how to insert a background and insert a character, put clothes on the character etc but basic tutorials are hard to come by!
