"View: Reset". Any way to modify where it resets to?

I promise not to fill this forum with all my newbish questions, but I have one more.  I appreciate all your patience and help.  I am Googling and searching here, and I've answered most questions on my own, but a few stump me.  This question involves the little up-arrow-in-circle icon in the viewport, the "view: reset" button.  I understand that it takes you back to the spot you started.  But after working for a while, usually that spot is useless, as I have inevitably moved things around.  I'd like to update where "View: reset" takes me.  Is this possible?

Thanks in advance.

Where it takes one depends upon which object in the scene is selected ;-)

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure we're talking about the same icon.  I'm talking about the bottom-most icon, the one with the up-arrow inside a circle marked View: Reset.  Are you sure you're not referring to the icon above it, View: Frame (plus enclosed by a square)?  When I click View: Reset, I always get taken to the same spot, regardless of what object is selected.  (In contrast to View:Frame, which focuses on the object selected, as you said.)  I want to be able to change that spot.

I'm guessing it's not possible, as I've found other people asking the same question, but I could be mistaken!

  • Actually they both rely on what is selected. Usually we have little things in the scene. If you load a HUGE landscape you will find that up arrow brings you way out in space so you can see the entire model.

At any rate for either one I am not aware of any methods to change where it brings one save going by selecting various objects.

This doesn't tell any way to change the default location of the Reset button, because I don't think there is any way to, but it does give a very good overview of all the ways to navigate in Daz's 3D space—including ways that the Reset function can be useful:

Thanks for your replies!  Catherine, I could see the reset key being especially useful for a large scene.  And it is nice if I've banked the scene or gotten lost.  I just kinda wish I could reset the reset spot.  :)

Mavante, that video was helpful, especially the section on customizing the UI.  I actually prefer hotkeys where possible, and I'm pleased that Daz supports WASD, QE, JKUI, and other keyboard ways to move around.  My mouse hand quickly gets tired in most 3D apps, so this is nice. Also, now you've got me watching other videos by WP Guru; I like the way he presents things. So thanks for the link!

I don't think rest is object dependent - frame and aim are, though, and may be better cjoices (or follow on choices) to reset.

You're very welcome. Yes, it is very worthwhile to watch all of his DS videos—some of them more than once. I return to them frequently.
