Rigging a Scuba Tank

Hi,
I am a DAZ3D newbi  and I wanted to rig my Scuba Tank whiich I modeled in Creo. First off, I imported the model to Hexagon and attached shoulder straps to it with a DAZ Female model as a reference. I grouped the parts accodingly and exported it as an obj for import into DAZ. Inside DAZ, I converted the prop into figure for rigging and then used "Fit to" "Dress- "option for fitting it on my DAZ model. It fitted on the model but distorted the shape. How do I remove assignments from the parts which I don't require and Rig those parts myself?
Also, is it the right way to do it?
Thanks in advance

The straps need to fit the base, unmorphed figure. I would either leave the tank a separate part and attach it via a Rigid Follow Node, or at least makeit one Rigidity Group with the geoemtry Editor and make its weights uniform across the whole model, to stop bth morphs and posing from distoring it (in fact it shudl probably be its own bone, so you can adjust it as a real tank would move when the figure is posed).

Hi, thanks for replying. I just looked for Rigid Follow Nodes and it seemed like a neat solution. Can you please tell, how do I give it its own bone? I tried rigging the whole thing earlier and it didn't work at all.
I converted my model into a figure using general wieght mapping, selected a part of it and assigned it to a face group and then selected it for the 1st bone. Created a sibling bone and did the same with it. As per my understanding, the assigned facegroups should move as I move the bone but it is not working. The first bone moves the complete model and not the faces it has been assigned to, while the second bone doens't move anything.
