How do I create semi-transparent materials?

I'm trying to make some semi-transparent materials for a project I'm working on. Specifically, it's a futuristic scene with a monitor that is just thin glass with images on it. When I make the image on the UV map as a jpeg or png it makes the blank space white (and I want it transparent in DAZ). I've seen the new clothes in the store which utilizes semi-transparent materials and I'd like to know how they do that. Please?

Black is fully transparent, white is fully opaque and shades of grey make various translucents

I think the easiest way woudl be to use the image you hae for diffuse as a template for a transmap - load your diffuse into a graphic package and ned up with all you want to see as white, all that is to be transparent as black and anything that will have translucency a shade of grey (50% transparency would be RGB127,127,127).

I never realized that the arrow buttons next to the sliders actually meant something, duh! I've used it for displacement and for diffuse...but not on the opacity. That opens a whole new world for me to investigate.

Thanks for the insight and help!
