The last time I tried the OpenGL transparency was messed up, because 2.3 is so far behind the OpenGL version on any graphics card made in the last decade.  Is there a reason you want to run DS2.3?

I've been using DS2.3 for 12 yrs. and have reached a level of competentcy that allows me to create scenes that are complex and entertaining. unfortunately, my old p.c. suffered catastrophic failures and had to be replaced. since newer issues of windows are mostly 64 bit. i havent been able to re-join my creations or to pursue new ones. the last o.s. that 2.3 functioned well on was vista. So, my question shouid be " can I configure my old files to work in a 64 bit o.s.? or can i install  a 32 bit o,s, on my p.c. which is running windows 10?

You can try installing it, I think it will work on a 64-bit system, even though DS2.3 is only 32-bit  The issue I found was screwed-up transparency in the Viewport, like internal eye and mouth parts being visible.  I don't know if that would be too disruptive to work with.  You might be able to fix it by fiddling with your graphics options.

I run DS_2.3.3.146, DS_3.1.2.32 and the latest 4.12.1.117 on Windows 10 64-bit. No problem with any of them.

Of course, I mainly use DS4, (almost never DS3), but DS2 is my most frequently used version for .obj import/export and various other building operations. I like its simplicity in many ways.

may I inquire as to the settings you used to successfully install D.S. 2.3.3 on windows 10?

No particular settings. I just double-clicked the installer as usual.

I have all three versions on the same drives - that's C for the install, and E for the content, so I just point the installers to the correct locations.
