Parenting an keeping positions as they were

Hey again,

I've been trying to parent some items together but every time I do the item jumps to somewhere else on the grid .. a real pain in the arse if I've spent the passed hour lining up things. Why are they jumping to somewhere else when I parent them? .. and most of all what can I do to stop these things from leaving their positions??

When I have something right where I want it I'm really confused as to why parenting should cause them to move. Is there any way to lock down things so they can't possibly move?

    How are you parenting? If you use the Change Parent dialogue there's a check box at the bottom for "Parent in place" - make sure you have that on. If you are dragging and dropping in the Scene pane then Parent in place is in the pane's option menu - click the button in the top corder with horizontal lines, or right-click on the pane's tab, and make sure the option has a tick next to it.
