would separate DS runtime folders confuse DS or Carrara?

i'm thinking of installing all my Curious theme content to it's own r/t folder.
and another separate folder for GIS theme content.

before i start that headache :) will the extra 'data' folders confuse DS4.6 or CA8.5?

thanks!!!

DS has no problems with multiple runtimes. I have 6 or 7 Poser content directories and 4 DS content directories right now, and it works perfectly fine.
I don't have Carrara 8.5, but when I tried it 7 had no problems with my poser content directories.

i had some trouble in the beginning with genesis in Ca8.5.

iz why the worry over the extra data folders

in theory, as long as the cms knows where the stuff is, ca should be okay ... ???

you cannot put genesis stuff in seperate libraries like morphs etc as it is inbuilt to the figure

the problem imho with putting everything in one runtime, is the backups. having to back up a gi-normous folder everytime i add stuff.

keeping a complete set like curious in one runtime means backup once. :cheese:

i'm backing up my main rt on 32g flash drives. 2 in rotation. crossing fingers it's enough. :shut:
but it means keeping the folder under 32g.

I bought an External 350Gb USB HDD for a rather low cost. It does my back ups very well. I can confirm that multiple content folders will work but you must keep all of Genesis1 in one content folder, thats figures morphs and the like. The same goes for Genesis2 and all its content. The clothing and props could even go in a different, third, content folder. As long as all are created properly, listed in the DAZ Studio Content paths properly and you Imported the metadata for all content once the paths are set up it will work just fine.

Mist if you read this http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/11176/#160909 and further down you will see we can run a many Runtimes as we want. I have now done this with DIM.

Actually TriAx figures will pick up morphs from multiple content directories, as long as they are properly located within the directory, in DS - I always advise people to save new morph assets they want to share to a different folder from the core files so that they can easily be zipped up, and I usually install new morphs to a temporary folder while I try them out. I would, however, advise keeping the active morphs and so on in a single location to make sure you don't end up with two different versions being loaded.

Yes, we can save morphs in multiple ribrary/data for one triax figures.
and Can load Triax figures with all morphs witch saved in different library (just need to keep relative path of morph directory )
in daz studio 4.5, or higher version.

But there are several exception it could not work.

Carrara can not load morphs which was saved different library from t the figure.dsf is located.
even though you locate all library correctly for Carrara.

And Generatino X2 for genesis can not correct morphs which was saved in different library.

    So that
After all,, you may better save all morphs.dsf under the Morph directtory , where the figure.dsf are saved
if you want to find all morphs of your Actor (of Clothing) in Carrara.

    eg Now I have,, ../yourlibrary/data/vendor name/(Figure) product name/YourFIgure.dsf
then I may save all morphs in ../yourlibrary/data/vendor name/(Figure) Prouduct name/Morphs/.....

I usually make many morph directoryies keep hieralchy, then manually move them.
