Would I need a game license if I just want to bake details and normals down to a low poly mesh?

Has anything changed with the game license? Since it was first introduced. I bought one for Hiro and Aiko but now there's a different one Indie and and Commercial. Do I have to re-buy this again?

AFAIK there has only ever been the one game developers license which covers the use of DAZ Originals, not specific products.

When the change to have a gaming model first opened up DAZ had the ability to buy a lisence per model. I still have the product in my list in my other account. The cost was 99$ for Aiko and 99$ for Hiro. I will login to my other account and get the order info.

Are these no longer valid purchases for game development?

The Hiro and Aiko products appear to be the Actual Models, so the license that you have for those is not to use them in games development, but rather to use them under the normal terms of the EULA.

I am not certain what the game developers kit is, but it certainly doesn't sound like the same thing as the Game developers license. I will make enquiries

Edited to add that it appears that it was a kit which allowed users of DAZ Studio to create and customize high-quality 3D characters and directly export them into their favorite game engine. It was not a Game developers license.

The prices were for game development. I know this for a fact because that's why I made the new account. The rules were that you could not use the same account at the time to even buy the game developers package. Then later that was changed but the data about my purchases should still be valid correct?

FYI this was in 2010 when there was even a http://developer.daz3d.com/ section that required the developer account to be created.

I understand that the Digimi Game Developer Kit for DAZ Studio, was nto for gave development. But every model that was bought under this account had a indie and commercial license. That's why the Hiro and Aiko pricing was so much. If this is not honored anymore should I not receive a re-reimbursement? For the models at least?

I did say that I would have to make enquiries.

I just opened a ticket about this issue. I know its been a while since these changes have happened but I thought that it would at least be logged better in the account history .

I was just going to come back to you and say that the best thing you could do was to open a ticket, as they will be able to help you whereas we in the forums can't really.

I'm assuming you purchased them from the developer.daz3d.com store that we ran for a while. If you purchased them from there (and the price point you paid indicates that you did) then yes, you own a license that allows you to use those two models in a video game.

However, we have switched our game license from a per model license to just a general license that expands the current EULA for all models that you own a regular license for. You now only need to purchase the Indie or Commercial game developer license and with that you can use any DAZ Original model you own a regular license for in a video game.
