OK goingto just ask questions and I apologize up front because the last time I thought I knew what I was doing I was wrong and wasted a lot of time.
Yes I see the improved quality of V6...which works off Genesis2, correct?
Genesis doesn't work in my Poser because of an error with the Reality plugin and I haven't gotten any response in the rdna forum so not going to try and use Genesis or G2 in Poser BUT was thinking as a last ditch effort would try in DS. And sorry but altho I do like DS now I just don't have another two or three weeks to add all my content, well the stuff that is compatible anyway, so here goes.
In order to use V6 figures I will need Genesis2 G2 morphs and will want some poses, will also need clothing for G2 as I assume that V4 clothes will not fit. And I assume that V6 will not work on her own without G2.
Am I missing anything?
Thanks.

1. V6 does require Genesis 2 Base Female. Genesis 2 Base Female is included in the Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials that ship with DAZ Studio. They install in a separate package from the actual application though, so make sure that you have the Starter Essentials installed.
2. V4 clothing can be autofit to Genesis 2 Female(s) and by extension Victoria 6 if you have this product installed: http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female
3. You don't need to move your previously installed content to get it into Studio. If your content is compatible with Studio (either DAZ Studio Format, Poser Format, or another supported import format) all you need to do is map the location of that content in Studio. You can then load that content through the Content Library Pane. No need to move a bunch of files. Here are instructions on how to do that: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/finding_loading_and_organizing_content/tutorials/mapping_directories/start
From your post it sounds like you have mostly poser format content installed, so make sure you add your directory under the "Poser Formats" section of the content library pane.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarification.
sooo then what I will need to use characters for V6 is the V6 base...and the Genesis2 body and head morphs , this one? http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-female-morphs-bundle
And I would NOT need any head and body morphs for V6 because that's in the gen2 ones? do I need those morphs to be able to use characters above V4 period?
http://www.daz3d.com/v4-and-m4-shapes-for-genesis this will let me use my older v/m4 characters?
Not exactly. First of all, that product is for the Genesis figure, not Genesis 2. And it does not convert V4 or M4 characters to Genesis, it just allows Genesis to assume the shape of V4 and M4. There are some characters described as "for V4 and Genesis" or "for M4 and Genesis" which require these shapes. For other V4/M4 characters, you will also need* GenX2, which is a separate purchase.
If you're primarily interested in using V4 skin textures on V6/Genesis 2, then the product DAZ_Jared mentioned for V4 clothing is what you need. If you also want Genesis 2 Female to assume the shape of a V4 character, then get GenX2 plus the Genesis 2 add-on for it.*
*There are DIY methods as well...see here.
More information on the various figures and on what you need to use products for one figure on another figure is available in this thread and in the Compatibility Matrix.
this all seems to be very confusing and badly done from the start, I have no idea what is needed. And as I saw on my last purchase I cant really trust what is given in the character descriptions...I think tbh instead of wasting any more time and taking a chance on getting the wrong thing and wasting money I will just say no and not advance in ds/poser. Thx for the help.
Although V6 is often described as a figure, think of her more as a character for the Genesis 2 Female figure. Like A4, S4, etc. were basically characters (shape plus texture) for the V4 figure.
Probably best to leave the original Genesis/Generation 5 out of the discussion entirely, as it is its own figure.
If you can give more information about what you're trying to accomplish, it'll be easier to answer the question of what you need.
Twofold, tho the first is for figures to add to Vue scenes and V4 is fine for that. Altho there are some clothes for V6/genesis that would be nice, oriental clothing.
The other is characters for my story and small scenes. I would also like to see just how realistic my pitifull attempts can get :)
