I can't open Daz twice.

I'm working on a series set and I'm at a point in the story where it's flipping between locations. In the past, I've found it easiest to open a new instance of Daz and load one scene there and have the other open in another one. So I can just click on the one I need to work in and save as I go. But lately when I've been trying this, Daz refuses to open again. It's like being a kid and your Mom saying, "You can have another when you're finished with that one." Does anyone know what might be causing this? Was there a software update that prevents this or something? I've re-botted thinking that might unjam it but to no avail. It will be a real pain to pose one picture, save and then wait for the other to load, change the characters face to show surprise, hit save and wait for the other too load back.

Thanks for any tips!

Yes, that comes from a software update. The way to open a second instance of DS has changed, you can't do it directly anymore (from what I've understood, opening a second instance directly could cause technical problems).

There are informations about it in this post: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/5112696/#Comment_5112696

Okay, I was expecting a "No stupid! It's not the software, you unchecked a box duh!" Not that anyone here talks to people that way but it's how I talk to myself :P And thank you for the info and link. It was a little intimidating but once I clicked the link it was super easy. I really appreciate the help. It's going to make this much easier.

Only the latest version is available for download. If you don't have a backup of an earlier version you can try opening a support ticket to ask if they might provide you with a copy.

Well, that's too bad. It was nice to have an option of opening two application but the real issue in New version for me is the horrible lag when navigating viewport with keyboard. It's really clunky. Anyway thanks.

You can still open two instances of DS, simply the way to do it has changed.

Regarding your navigation problem, I don't know if it's linked but there's a known issue with some keyboard shortcuts in the latest general release. There's a fix in the latest beta, it might be worth a try.

It's a different issue, I believe, but yes the Public Build does, I think, have a fix (I don't usually use keyboard navigation).

I use the "Scene Navigator Tool" and navigate the face of the camera using the mouse but if I have to move in a direction like front direction then I use the keyboard. in other words, W(Front) A(Back) S(Left) D(Right) to move and Mouse to face which direction(Up or Down as well as Q(Up) E(Down)) I am moving. It was very fluid before but now it takes a couple of seconds to register W A S D when I am changing direction while using the mouse. Is this the same issue as public build or am I the only only one experiencing this.

This is not a serious issue but I do feel the lag, the delay in response after I pressed key, the loss of fluidity. It's like playing an FPS game but with a ping of 200 and realizing how good it was when you had less than 50 pings. Terrible but nothing that really affects the work I do.

The new matte fog thing is nice though so I am not going to rollback anymore. I hope in a future update it gets sorted out.

Keyboard navigation seems immediately reponsive in the Public Build, unlike the general release.
