Dystopia City Blocks Bonus Items Not All To Scale?

I have several of the Dystopia City Blocks Packs, and must say they are top rate with a large variety of buildings, low poly count models that are easy on the memory of my computer, excellent sky domes and lighting sets, and the list of good things about them goes on. I have also the bonus blocks that are included with some of the sets, and I have the Fort Wall Set that has twenty models included which can be assembled in many ways. I am a big fan of the Dystopia City Blocks and related items.

There is one Bonus Item I have that seems out of proportion to the scale of all the other city blocks. It is the Bridge. When loading it with the City blocks in the scene at their default size, I find that the Bridge is as long as five City Blocks! Its width is also very wide, and not to scale with the width of any of the roads in the main City Blocks. There is also the fact of the height of the Bridge, which brings its street level up way above the level of any of the streets in the main blocks. And there is no way for vehicles to move onto or off of the Bridge in a logical manner. I think flying vehicles would not even need a bridge, so it must be for wheeled vehicles.

Now I know that there are Scale Files that allow one to match the City Blocks and related items to the figures and vehicles. Also I know about the different parts of the Sky Dome, and how to use them. All my other Bonus Blocks are scaled to the size of the main blocks, And I can scale the entire city once all blocks and the sky dome used are parented to each other with the Sky dome as the Parent of all other parts. The problem is that the Bridge just does not fit into the scene like I would expect.

So I am asking the good folks here in the DAZ Studio Discussion Forum to help me with this. What I would like to know is what values should I scale the Bridge to at the default scale and at the Poser scale that works with the figures?

    Hello!
I usually load everything in DAZ Studio (for rendering I export to Vue). The bridge loads at the default scale of 500%. I found that if I scale it to 120%, the width of the street matches the width of the streets that are formed between two city blocks at default scale. That works for me.

How are you getting the 500%? My Parameters show it at 100%. At least I seem to recall that, because I was trying to figure out how to resolve this issue in the Parameters tab. I'll have another look at it and see if you or I am correct.

What worries me is the Scale files that increase the size of everything to work with the default size of the human figures and other models that are to scale with human figures. Will the size reduction of the Bridge be carried over to the size increase when the Scale change file is applied?

Well anyway I'll get back to you concerning the way the Bridge loads into the scene.

This is an old item made for older versions of Poser, which treated scaling for parented items differently than DS does, which is probably what's causing the issue. So just scale it down to 24%.

Now that is some useful info! Thank you! I'll check into it straightaway.

It seems that you are correct about the scale it loads at; 500%. The screenshot I am uploading bears that out. Thus i will use your scaling advice to reduce the size to the size I need. As it is actually 5 times the length of a single normal block, I would think that reducing it to 100% would be the correct scale. I will test all suggestions and my own thoughts and then we shall see.

Thanks to each of you posting here.

Well I tested the scale suggestions for the Bridge, and the one I thought of as well. What I found was that my own scale reduction works best. As the Bridge loads into the scene at 500% scale it is only logical that reducing it to 100% would be the correct scale to use. It turns out that I am right. Once the reduction was completed I then tested whether the Bridge would scale correctly using the 12000 scale that increases everything to the correct size for all human, animal, and vehicle figures. It did so with no trouble. The scale issue with that Bridge seems to be unique unto it alone (unless something in one of the Dystopia City Blocks Pack I don't have yet is done the same way. All other models in the Dystopia City Blocks that I have load at 100%, including the other bonus Block and the Fort Wall set.

I know this is an old product line, but it seems to me that the creator could have updated it to address this one issue long ago. Why it was not addressed is unknown to me at least. Even so, if the issue is that easy to fix, then it is not so bad. I think I will likely load the Bridge, do the size correction, and save it as a renamed file to the same folder it is found in. That way I will have the oversized one and the corrected size one, and will know which is which.

It took me a while to use logical reasoning to figure out what to do, and without those of you that posted here I would still be banging my head against a wall. LOL Thank you for keeping my headaches down.
