Mechanical Object - Rigging Question - (Question Answered)

edited May 2014 in Daz Studio Discussion

How do you setup "parametric" rigging for a mechanical object so that the bone for one group of polygons doesn't influence the polygons of an adjoining group.? I want the different parts of the model to maintain there exact shape as they are moved and posed. I've done this before, but I'll be damned if I remember what i did to achieve this in the past. Its been a while.

Note: Using angles or spheres of influence will not achieve the effect I am after. I need to turn off any effect that angles or spheres of influence will have on any adjacent groups.

Thank you.

Select all of the nodes and then in Parameters turn off Bend (that's the bend button, not the bend slider if there is one).

    Hi Richard.

Thank you. I think I have things working properly now.

Still hoping that someday there will be a manual or complete reference describing properly what exactly all the tool options and settings do in the Content Creation Tools. If I had access to someone knowledgeable I'd happily write the darn thing myself.

    Thanks again.
