These both look like "second skins."  The artist created these colorations to go on top of the skin, including matching bump and normal maps to give them leather texture, etc.  Second Skins are often applied with LIE.  The dead giveaway is the serious bum-crack problem and too much texture in the nipples, as well as too much indentation for the belly-button.  Keep in mind that when you use a Second Skin, its permanently changing your character's skin and won't go away like removing an outfit.  You would have to reapply the skin to get back to normal.

So it is a lot more involved than just using shaders.

Ok..so..my noobness is gonna show through here

Is second skin an actual product to buy?  And What is LIE?

    Thanks for answering :)

A second skin is (more was) repalcing the skin texture on a material with something else - such as a clothing texture. There were various products that did this in the old days, it's less popular now.

LIE is the Layered Image Editor, allowing you to place additional maps or solid colour layers on top of the base map (and optionally to apply masks to the layers). It is launched from the same menu on mapped properties as the browse... command and the list of currently loaded maps.

Would it be too much to ask for a sort walk through on that?

Like a go here>click this> move that? type thing.  Its how my brain best learns.

You guys are awesome and thanks for the help so far

I'm not sure that those are second skin/LIE methods - at least in the case of the top image there looks to be an edge to the clothing with the skin going under it, which would suggest a real outfit has beena pplied.

Neither of these are officiasl Daz videos, and I didn't sit through them, but they seem to have a reasonable number of hits:

You alter the look of the surfaces via the surfaces tab, select the figure and then the surface area you wish to change, open the surfaces tab and alter the surfaces. Things like glossy etc will get you the shiny look.

There are also shader presets in teh store that will do this for you

    https://www.daz3d.com/uber-iray-skin-tight-shine

    https://www.daz3d.com/plastic-and-latex-iray-shaders

    https://www.daz3d.com/pliable-plastic-iray-shaders

The way to use these is to select the figure and then the surface you wish to change, using the surface selection tool helps with this and then apply double click the shader preset you want to use.
