You did something which can be more difficult to do, and that's getting that kind of outfit to look comfortable when kneeling or bending. As usual, good use of DOF (depth of field) and her expression is right on the money!

If you like working with photoshop layers you might try:

http://www.daz3d.com/mask-and-multipass-toolbox by draagonstorm. This tool is great for allowing you to quickly select items in your DAZ studio render so you can mask them off and edit them separately in photoshop.

    For example:

    1. Quick closeup shot of your character.
    2. Use the tool to mask off either the foreground, background, surfaces or whatever you please.
    3. Compose in photoshop.
    4. Composition consisting of mask and figure 1.

Masking and rendering only what you want in render will allow you to apply more detail or alter the qualities of this specific selection. Which is quite useful if you want a section or character to 'pop'

I'm really interested in this product because I do a lot of compositing. Does it work with iRAY?

    Hi Superdog:

I am an Iray novice... but I did try it, and was able to make masks and start renders using individual lights. I'm not sure what advantage you would get from using IRAY vs. 3d Delight to make the mask parts. but you might get some from using the rending lights feature.

Iray runs too slow on my computer, so I don't have much experience to give you a professional opinion- but it does seem to work.

This is one outfit I really want to like. But I keep having problems with lag, and crashing when I try to render it. I don't know if it is my machine, or something else in the scene. Did try removing the bird, and hiding the figure. I don't know

Edit: Wanted to make the figure darker, but I've been trying for two days, and I think I'm done now. It is a very simple scene and my machine should be able to handle it with ease.

Is it possible that it's the size of the texture maps on the suit (you mentioned their size in another thread)? The easiest way to test it would be to just remove the maps and re-render. If you're able to render, then you can reduce the size of the maps in an image-editing program (eg. drop the 4096 x 4096 to 2048 x 2048) and try again.

Well, I think Wstrdan is correct. Something funky with the textures playing nicely with my machine in Solar Vagabond. Fortunately, this outfit has so many material zones it really looks awesome re-colored with shaders. The level of detail here is pretty amazing. I've bought outfits before with the intent to apply shaders only to have the zones be big, cartoony sections you can do nothing with. Not so here...

Using shaders from super suit and expansions, as well as Arcadia Rising you can create a really great superhero/sci-fi outfit. Oddly, I don't like the butt. Will have to take a look at that- LOL.

Now to see what I can do with the rest of the outfit.

One thing that I think really sets this outfit apart from others is the details. I really in particular like the zipper down the front and the metal seams on the sides. This adds a lot of depth and breaks up the monotony of those side chest areas. Also it really enhances the look with shaders. Without those, there would be too much open space. With a lot of bodysuits and armor, the texture is where you get those details from, and you don't have mat zones for those tiny areas. I think it makes a difference. Great job.

I wanted to try to recolor the Solar Vagabonds outfit a second time. If you have Sedition Soldier, there are some great metal/camo shaders which you can use to touch up the metal plates for an entirely different look.

The camo looks really good! I like the red, black, and silver one too. What hair is that in the first one?

Thanks! That is Gareth hd. The hair is from: http://www.daz3d.com/m4-air-crew-set

I really like it. It doesn't have a lot of adjustment and only one color but fits nicely to m6. In fact the entire set is prett great

A friend and I were discussing how much we liked Michael 3's body shape. There is just something to me, about it, that I really like. So I decided to pull up the Michael 3 shape for genesis.

I actually really like the lean lines and narrow eyes. I think this morph would be really great on gen 2 male, with just a bit more detail and some reworking of the joints. Maybe a high def M3 for gen 2 male? Up close he isn't as detailed, but the lean shape is very cool.

Anyway here is the Genesis Morph.

I kitbashed the outfit from Starship crew for Mos Invasion. I recolored some of it, and removed the boots entirely, and used the ones with the anime battlesuit. This is Just a series of test renders. I'll be doing something more detailed soon.

Oh, this is the medic uniform so I made the glow match the red cross on his back. =)

That's interesting- I hadn't seen the M3 on Genesis before. It does have different lines. I like the lighting on that too- the blue rim glow down the length of the legs and top of the thigh is a nice touch :)

I have to share this- it's 6:25am here, and I leave a bowl of dried cat food on my porch because mockingbirds, grackles, and other birds eat it. It's going to be 105 degrees here (heat index) so I help the wildlife get a good meal so they don't have to forage during the hot times. Well, I got a video a few minutes ago of a daddy or mommy woodpecker teaching the baby that the cat food was edible! They gave it a piece then flew away. It was so adorable! They literally bobbed right up my brick column!

I wanted to try the retro space suit out. It was a lot of fun. Don't worry. The bot will get fixed. That's what engineers are for. =-)

The retro space suit looks good on a female figure which is nice since I don't really care for the actual female retro space suit..

I found the retro suit worked great on V6. I like it better than the female suit. It wouldn't fit to V7, because it's a man's outfit, but it looked nice. The textures are fun too!

I realize I have a surprising lack of realistic sci-fi tools. I hope someone makes some- and a tool chest, very soon!

Great shot! Love the suit as well (retro science fiction is my fave) but the colour choices are odd (no nice, simple blue, red or green to match the orange). For scifi tools, check out some of Nightshift3D's sets.

Thanks! I'll have to see how the suit takes a recolor. You might easily be able to color it if there are enough mat zones. Originally darius was wearing the yellow-white outfit. But it was too jarring. The toolbox, the pistols (and here I confess they are both medical devices), are from Nightshift 3d's sets. As are a couple of tools lying on the floor. They just didn't look delicate enough for the work I had in mind on the bot, as they are definitely chunky looking heavy tools.

I'd love a new set of sci-fi handheld devices, tools, soddering iron, etc. Something to reflect the lighter/slimmer more delicate kind of tools we see in the newer sci-fi. This does however suit the retro style.

I picked up Children of the Serpent for gen 2 male in the last sale. I really like the morph, and the tail movement is great. The original mats have a rather repetitive pattern. (Sorry folks), however the figure can be recolored using any alien mat for a number of different variations- including a typical human-type skin.

    Here we are.

    1. Midnight Martian. It was easy to make a pattern for the tail from one of the wider body parts. If you want something better, you'll have to pull out the tail template and add some more details, but this works for me. .
    2. Alien skin
    3. Human

I really like the plain humanoid body morph which comes with the set. It is a great basic gen 2 male figure- even if you may not be into the naga looking critters.

Here's the figure with a variety of skins so you can see for yourself.

Okay, here are some test renders of V7 in 3delight. The figure is FWSA Adaline who I like very much with some morphs to give her buffness. The outfit could be made more modest by adding shaders on the legs. Would love this outfit if it had actual pants options.

Oh, and the first two poses are converted from Shimzu's poses for Gia. The third running pose is from V6 bundle base pose set. All nicely converted over... So no need to spend more cash on V7 poses.

To make the outfit, more modest, you can apply a shader, like this one from supersuit and increase the tiling to make a nice thigh armor/skin texture.

Great job (as always); the shader-to-character works fairly well, but I really wish we didn't have to do that. I know it's more work, but if the modeller made the open area a panel on the pants that could be turned on or off by a MAT, I'd be much happier. I know I've turned down some clothing simply because they don't look "right" to me, or rather for the characters I'm working with, and I don't feel like spending the time finding a shader that looks right to fill in these fashion gaps.

That is my favorite skin for rendering. The character is Victoria 6, but the trick is the texture. The Texture I really like is Tori for V5 with makeup 001 applied. For some reason that texture looks great on figures. It makes a great contrast.

Yeah, It sucks that the outfits don't have a pants option. I like the top of the suit, but so many sci-fi women's outfits are simply bathing suits with corsets and garter-like legging is way too obvious for me

For me, sexy is an attitude, not how little or how close the outfit is to looking like a teddy and thigh-highs. It really is the sci-fi equivalent of men in chaps and thongs. It gets boring.
