Odd Man Out

I was looking to create a Goth type person and remembered I had Emelie and Edward Odd. I'm using mainly G2 characters these days and converting over characters when I have the time. No problem. I create the G2 character. I even have Legacy figures so if I wanted to do a Justin based Edward Odd no problem.

The issue is when I put the skin on. When I load G1 with the skin, it shows as V4 UV based. When I go to the G2 character I have no option, it only shows guys UVs. On G2 female, V4 UV is an option and works fine. Just not for the guys.

I have Legacy Shapes, GenX 2, etc so surely I have the answer somewhere. I'm just not sure where to find it and searching is not helping so far.

I can use another skin if needed. I am mainly after the make up or face paint part. So far I've only converted skins and morphs from M4/V4 to G1 and G2 so not sure if make up or face paint would be converted the same or different since it is more of a layer.

This brings up a whole new list of things to try and convert - make up, jewelry, and tattoos.

I'm not opposed to reading. Just point me to a post and I'm read. :) I just can't find what I'm looking for. *hmmmm...there's a song in there somewhere*

To use the V4/M4 textures you will need the Victoria 4 and Michael 4 shapes for Genesis 2. They not only give you the shape, but the UVs necessary.

The OP wants a Female UV on the Male figure. I'm not sure we have that yet. Or vise versa like either.

So far I've just used the Brandon character since Emelie and Edward Odd hasn't worked out as good so far. I like to mix and match everything so I don't know what is all possible but I am finding out. Thanks for the input. :)

Genesis 1 is both Male and Female and thus could do this very easy. I just use G1 for things like this.

Yeah and those characters were made for G1. At first I was worried about mixing G1 and G2 in the same scene if there was a big difference in looks but they look fine together. Without knowing which is which I can't really tell.

I've been trying to use all my fancy new utilities lately so trying out a lot of different things.

If you own the V4 UV for G2F, you can copy over the UV file from G2F to G2M data directory and then edit the file path in the "id" in the file ("Female" -> "Male"). The attached screenshot is Elite Marie V4 on G2M. If I am not mistaken you can even trigger this via certain presets, so that G2M switches over to a G2F UV, but this is how I did this initially.

Edit: Ah found something, this might come in handy: UV Setter for Genesis 2 Thread

Thank you! I only half read your reply. I didn't "see" the UV Setter comment but I did try and copy the files and so forth and wasn't sure where to copy them so I did a search and found the UV Setter Thread and downloaded the Presets. I swear I take the long way around to get to anywhere.

    But it worked.

Here is a quickie render. There are slight differences when converting but nothing that upsets the apple cart. Anyway, these really aren't for real characters anyway. I'm experimenting a lot right now trying to convert M4/Genesis characters to G2. I just have never thought about makeup or anything like that until now. But the Presets solves this problem so thank you very much!

It gives me another tool for my arsenal.
