Dforce - Surface settings missing

I'm probably doing this wrong ... but.
I create a primitive in Studio (cube, plane, etc.) bridge it over to Hexagon and modify mesh, then back to Studio as a prop - then assign Dforce dynamic surface.
If I assign a force to the original primitive, dforce setting appear under the Materials tab.
Assigning a force to the Hex prop, Dforce options are not created in the Materials tab.
Am I missing a step? Or is this just not supported.
The Hex prop will still drape, but I have no control settings.
Thanks
Alan
I did search, but couldn't find any answers.

Maybe convert it to a general weight-mapped figure first?
Gordig - thanks for the tip, tried it - still no settings available.
I have a work-around, of sorts.
I take my Hex prop, export as .obj, import back, assign dforce dynamic surface - tada! Got control settings.
There must be something in the native Hex file, or bridged over prop, that is not compatible - or I'm still missing a step somewhere.
Thanks for the help.
