SHADERS

Hello,
Am starting to work in a bit more detail than just making a character and have worked with shaders some. For now I am using just the basic shaders that come with DAZ and only applying them to basic shapes, squares, spheres and planes.
I haven't yet figured out why some will apply, for example the Walnut Semi-Gloss, but others will not like the Wood and Blue Marble. i have viewed using IRAY in the AUX ViewPort but it only shows white on the objext.
Will only some shaders work on certain things or is there something else I need to do/apply before loading some of these others.
Thanks,
DJ

If you copying a material from an object and pasting to another object, ensure that the second object has an uber iray shader applied to it. Otherwise I don't recall another instance in which what you are describing could occur.
Shaders only show their true colour(s) when rendered.
Studio has two main render engines, 3Delight and Iray, they use different shader languages, as a result a shader for one engine won't work in the other engine. Now the devs know this, and have set up a system where some 3Delight shaders get a "rough" conversion to Iray Uber when you try to render them in Iray.
Almost all 3Delight shaders built in the ShaderMixer can't be converted with that system, as a result they just won't work in Iray, which is why BlueMarble and Wood aren't working, the same is true for the other twelve presets that come with those two.
Thanks for the reminder on the two different render engines, it all makes sense now. i see that there is a folder under the Shaders named 'IRAY' I will have to make sure I review what is in there and only select those. Haven't seen any other identifier that would alert me as to which one's are Iray and which 3Delight.
Thanks everyone for the assistance.
