You cannot turn this off. It is a necessary function of the render engine. It needs to convert texture image files to a special format before rendering. But it needs to be done only once as far as I know. After that, the files are kept in a cache and stay there until you quit and restart DAZ Studio.
Sometimes it works like a charm and sometimes it takes a long time. I do not know why. Maybe someone else can expain it better :-)
Did you load a Genesis 2 figure or an elite texture? They take longer to optimize than "regular" Genesis 1 or Victoria 4 textures. The only other thing that I can think of is that your hard drive or computer is slowing down. Daz Studio takes about five minutes to optimize Genesis 2 on a single-core computer made in 2007. I have a similar issue with Poser 9.
I remember reading a post that a moderator made: When Daz Studio is not running, delete the temporary files that Daz Studio creates. But that suggestion was for Studio 3.
Sorry I couldn't help out more. Good luck.
As far as I know, the temporary files are deleted automatically when you close DAZ Studio. Thats why the optimizing procedure starts again when you open Studio and render a new or saved scene.
There was a problem between TDLMake and an update in Windows handling of Tiff files that caused delays on some systems. This is fixed in the latest public beta.
i loaded the sandy village, guess it's a lot of image maps for one scene. i've been working on this one scene since last night.
and then gianni went all white space.
rebooted. didn't help. could be the aoa shader thingee acting up again. maybe my video isn't good enough.
boots went as well.
The temporary TDLmake Fix is this. Open your Surfaces Tab, Use the mini menu (4 lines) in the options you set
Automatically Refresh Images to OFF
This will mostly prevent TDLmake from going into the loop.
thanks for the tdl tip.
hoping to get a lot more use of the village set.
