DRAM-less SSD?
I would like to ask if someone is using SSD without RAM chips to store Daz content; I already have a standard SSD for the OS and for Daz main program (and cache and all stuff in AppData/Roaming) but everything else is on har disk. DRAM-less SSD are cheaper but have less random r&w speed.
since I don't know exactly how Daz technically works I'm wondering if storing first the main content (G2, G3 and G8 packages) and then the most used stuff on an SSD like that would really boosts the performances of Daz Studio..

Putting files on SSD rather than standard rotating media will have an effect on how quickly a scene loads, or a new asset inserts into a scene, but will have little or no effect on rendering speed, as by the time you start a render, DS already has all the assets in RAM.
thanks but I was talking about internal SSD DRAM not system RAM..
as long as I know the internal SSD DRAM (on chip or not) keeps a map of where the data is phisically located on the NAND chip, and update it instead of writing and reading again when data changes. This brings better speed performances of the SSD, longer lifespan and warranty but higher costs.
Anyway I was lucky to find a Samsung QVO 1TB that has a 1GB DDRAM and it was cheaper then a Crucial BX500 1TB withouth DRAM, so I took it (Samsung is one of the very few DRAM manufacturers, guess this is the reason why you can find them a good price)
