Cameras - Lenses and Bladeses

Are these parameters documented anywhere?

So far, I can tell what the Lens Shift, Stereo Offset and the spherical (useful for making HDRIs!) and cylindrical (for lulz) distortion types do by fiddling with them, but the other stuff is a mystery, and I couldn't find anything helpful in the documentation centre.  Some sections are there, but marked "To Do".   There's all kinds of stuff about DOF controls, but nothing I could find about the Lens and Blades section.

You may get some idea looking for similar terms in regards to real cameras.

The shift, though, I can explain - normally if you want to take a photo of a tall building or tree you need to tilt the camera, which introduces perspective effects (it narrows as it goes up). Being able to shift the backplate allows you to capture that kind of thing wiithout tilting the camera - in this case you would lower the backplate which would have the effect of raisng the field of view even though the camera was pointing straight ahead.

This is a video, granted, but it will give you a good start on what blades do: https://youtu.be/AjRE5ETfLig

This series of images shows what lens distortion can achieve.

In this one with the camera being so low it was under the floor so by using the lens distortion I could get the image.

I haven't used the blades. Any time I tried them I couldn't see any difference in any images.

The video link will explain why you didn't see anything.  Basically, if you place your figure in a scene, place some emmisive lights in the scene behind the figure, and then adjust the camera blades, the light sources look like hexagon, round, star, or other shaped bokehs in the scene.

Thank you. I don't see me using it but you never know so at least now I know what it does laugh
