Corrupt DAZ 4.6 update?
Hi,
I just purchased some new items. As I installed them using DIM, there were several product updates for the DAZ main program and Genesis essentials reported. So I said "OK DIM, do it for me".
After successful update and install of all entries, I found DAZ not working any more.
There was a message about a wrong drive for display and the surface of DAZ looked like ... ??
Don't know how to describe.
The graphical menues now were only some text parts somewhere on the surface. So it even wasn't possible to access any menues for setup or similar.
Only after reinstalling my old source for the DAZ 4.6 64bit program, everything is fine again.
I couldn't check everything up to now. But at least my latest scene I prepared for render is working.
So it seems, there is a corrupt update file on your site visible for DIM.

That happened to me once, and I had DAZ Studio open when I ran DIM to reinstall the latest version.
I did an uninstall, and reinstalled it again, and all was well. You must NEVER run DIM to install the latest version of DS with DS still running.
If there had been a corrupt download of DS being installed by DIM, we would all have got it, so the most likely explanation is that you had a copy of DS running at the time of the install.
FYI you must Never have DAZ Studio running at all for any install. That is a very fast way to damage the Database that is in use when DAZ Studio is running. This is the number one cause of the Smart content Failures many users see. Few Database programs handle multi updates well with the file pointers in use. Maybe the new Database in the DS4.6.3 will be better, I plan to still not test the theory. I'll close my DS for all installs, that includes Hand installs not just DIM installs.
