Wearable Assets (pz2) not Importing Into Scene

I am new to DAZ but not to this kind of program. I purchased the "Steampunk Lady" bundle and installed it, and also bought the Victoria 4 model that it's compatible with, but try as I might I cannot get the assets to load into the scene. It is this item:

https://www.daz3d.com/steampunk-lady-bundle

I have downlaoded it, installed it, uninstalled it, installed it again, installed it manually. I have tried importing it, dragging it into the scene manually, as well as the standard method of selecting the model and attempting to apply it. I have tried dragging directly in from the finder, every permutation of everything I can think. It will not load. I can't get them into the scene on it's own. I have tried selecting the whole model, just the area of the model the asset is supposed to attach to. I have tried all other models than Victoria 4.

Nothing.

Please someone take pity on me before I go mad. I have raised a tehncial support ticket - a few days ago. No response. I have purchased other things that have worked perfectly - notably the Steampunk Man...Cogsworth.

Do you have the pre-requisite clothing models? The Steampunk Lady Bundle gives your new textures (as .pz2 files) to apply to the original clothing. You need to load the clothing first.

  • I did wonder about that - and on your recommendation I went ahead and bought the "Outfit" though I would ahve thought that was included in the bundle. It seems very confusing.

No matter...It's downlaoded and installed but the only things working are the morphs to prepare for the corset and the boots. Otherwise - still no luck. I have spent a solid day trying to get things to work and only 5 minutes just now. I'll persevere but gee...this is pretty maddening.

I need to quickly produce a variety of background characters for a Steampunk scene. It mgiht have been easier just to do everything manually in Blender the way things are going.

If you ahve any other thoughts they would be most welcome.

  • In fact I have made SOME progress.

It seems you have to load in "geometries" which are kept in a completley different location. Once they are loaded to V4, the clothing will attach. Unfortunately, there are no geometries for most of additional bundle. It's progress of sorts - I at least have a partially clothed model, but I can't add the accessories I bought.

I have dug into the manual download files and they do not have them either. I don't know if there is something ELSE I should have bought, but gee...this is incredibly confusing if you ask me.

That is a fairly old clothing set, so probably needs to be loaded from Content Library - Poser Formats - <your install library name> - Characters (which sounds weird but that's the way it is!) Did you just buy the outfit and not the accessories? Pity they're not on sale at the moment.

I actually don't have that Steampunk set (although I have several other clothing/accessory sets by the same creators), so I'm sorry I can't help all that much.

Victoria 4.2 is Poser format as are her accessaries so you have look for the main model in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats.  The texture presets also seem to be only in Poser format.

The bundle isn't of clothes set plus extra textures set; it's of two extra texture sets for two clothes sets, the outfit and the accessories. Scroll down a bit on the product page and look at the "This Product Includes..." section.

  • Thank you all for your reponses and for your attempts to help.

Unfortunately, it hasn't helped - yet.

MelanieL has helepd at least to explain I needed the outfit FIRST. So I did buy that and installed, and I have managed to get some of the items in. I am using the content Library. The base "geometries" are in the Poser Formats>My Daz Library>Figures>Steampunk. (Note attached image)

But they do not include the base geomteries for the accessories. The shaders work on the the geometries, and that's fine but I can't apply the necklace, goggles, or hat. The accessories are readily discoverable in abother part of the content panel.

According to this help article: https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/207530823?input_string=steampunk+lady+content+not+working+v4

...I may need to use a "!Magnetise 4Victoria", which I have found but I have no idea how to apply so that the the accessories attach.

It's a shame - all this was supposed to be a time saving relatively cheap way to get some background characters we will hardly see for a Steampunk short music video. I am actually making better progress with MakeHuman, but the characters made in Daz, especially once they have been finessed in Blender, are good enough to maybe get some more attention for a scene here and there.

I don't understand why you have DAZ Genesis 2 Female and DAZ Genesis 2 Male folders under Poser Formats as those are Studio Format figures.  Could you show the folders and files in the actual products installer zip?

The accessories are yet another product (see the requirements on the product page, as I pointed out before). And yes, it does get expensive if you buy them all at full price. If you can wait a few days I suspect Lady Littlefox may turn up in the vendor 50% sale in a coupld of day's time (they are steadily working through the alphabet).

(Alternatively, if you want to abandon these sets and wish you hadn't bought them, there's a 30-day period in which you can return any unwanted items, you just have to raise a support ticket to Sales Support and ask for a refund, listing the products and the order number(s) you bought them in.)

I think those are just the poser companion file bits - I don't install PoserCF's myself (because I don't use Poser) but according to the G2F Starter Essentials ReadMe it will put files into those folders.

Hi, in fact that's exactly what I have done. It's too late now - I have the full outfit and both bundles...there is no more to purchase (that I can see). It would have been well worth it if I could get it all to work. So I am aware that the accessories are another product (now) but it doesn't have the geometeries needed to apply them. I'll triple check...

I just installed Daz and that's how it turned up. I have not moved anything around. I have to say I'm pretty confused too. They were installed via the DIM so if there are zips on my system to look at I'd be very interested to find them...I downloaded the Steampunk Lady assets first via the DIM but then I downlaoded the manual installer to see if something didn't get installed that should have.

Sorry, you don't need to find the zip on your computer.  In DIM right-click on the product in the Installed pane and get a pop-up with lotsa options, two being Show Packaged Files and Show Installed Files.
