I've been there, an amazing place.

Salt isn't like coal or gold, it doesn't form in narrow seams that the miners follow, it forms in huge masses - which is why the mine has all those gigantinc chambers in it: once upon a time that was all solid salt.

As I recollect, there is also a clinic down there where people with allergies and respiratory problems can go and stay. The salt naturally cleans the air and helps them breathe.
