I have almost from the very start had performance issues with 3Deilght almost four or five months ago. The biggest one was no skin surfaces rendering just turning black. At first thought lighting was the issue and went to camp very hard on that. No luck so recently surfacing became of interest and had small breakthroughs but main bodies remain black. Most props or objects would appear some beautifully again people not. Would get arms legs eyeballs teeth but nothing else. On almost everything the only render settings I would alter would be shader to 30 to 50 and the view port setting. Almost all clothing also will not appear. I will give what pics I can of what was attempted and render settings . The only thing I can think of is the since I manually installed Daz weeks before I found out about DIM and having frequent periodic breaks in connection during download is that Daz didn't arrive complete so therefore unable to run normally.I'm thinking I will have to uninstall and reinstall using the manger to set this right. My system 3gig processor 16 gig ram good and vid card and a terrabite hard drive memory . Tried some spot renders which simply blacked all skin surfaces completely when I was learning the Genesis Supersuit. I hope you tell me I'm wrong because I love this program and want only to use it. I listen well and love any and all advice and or knowledge I can gather. Once more I thank one and all for their time and patience. Ps my print screen did both and also you may notice a small error box that comes up before every launch since installation.

Did you ever install the DAZ Studio Default Lights and Shaders content package to your main content Folder?
At install there is 3 different Free content packages,
Genesis Starter Essentials
Genesis 2 Stater Essentials
DAZ Studio Default Lights and Shaders
All are needed for proper use of DAZ Studio 4.5+.
Yes I have all three and have doubled checked to be sure by the way hi Jaderail but I also own many other great packages as well but have been holding off till I find out where my problem is.
White out and Black out is a failure of the SSS texture Shader. The Shader Mixer Brickyard has had a failure and may have a Temp file that has stayed on drive, that file will be called every use of SSS until it is cleared from the folder. Other Reasons for SSS Failure are covered in the SSS thread in the commons, they range from all the texture areas having the same group ID in the Surfaces tab to as just said the Shader Mixer Brickyard failure.
In Some of your posted images it looks as if you have used two different textures that use different Shaders, thus causing the results, or that the shader you used was not applied to the full texture at one time, just to a part of the texture.
I am running the Daz 4.6 with the latest updates. These problems I'm having or with anything have never crashed the program so I don't think I've really worked it very hard yet. There is one thought that struck me is that I usually regrease my heatsink once a year and I'm a couple months past that . Could that impact this as well ?
Yes I have seen the brickyard folder mentioned but I cannot seem to locate it . I seen a mention if you empty that folder it could also clear up certain problems , is that true ?
As a Very new user I'm wondering if you used the DIM to install content. If you did you do know the DIM content folder is not the same as the Default content folder. The DIM Content folder will need mapped to DAZ Studio properly before content in it will function. It will appear that content is installed because the CMS was populated with the links and thus shows the content Icons. But those Icons are not linked properly until the folder gets mapped to DAZ Studio by the user.
Just to help if that is your only issue, here is what a DAZ Studio Directory list should look like for both folders to work...
One other thing I found this weekend spending adding metadata to older products was the listings for the root catagories , there was one and a half columns off screen and could not access which were all the clothing ones and I have no idea how to shrink that down. Has this ever happened before ?
If the Brickyard has hung there will be a folder in C:Users/AppData/DAZ 3D/
AppData is a hidden system folder and Show hidden for folder view will need to be on before it shows..
I have never had the Brickyard fail so beyond DAZ 3D in the folder list I do not know Which folder will have the bad file. I suggest finding the other thread you read before for the proper info on how to correct that.
They are the same except the top line in both have /Studio/interjected between DAZ 3D and Library does that have an impact ?
May I please get a screen capture of your paths, all off them? It sounds as if your paths my be off. If that is all it will be a easy fix I can show you.
Also one other thing and sorry I know the the way of info for I work for an internet provider but this all new to me , is Legacy a stand alone program from Daz or should I be loading those too ? Yes I'm very new but want to be able to learn enough to someday maybe help you people help others as well.

Well your paths are correct. I'll ask a few others to look in here and see if we can figure this out for you. I have to leave now as I have a thing that I must do in the morning, so I'm not able to stay online and help more right now. Do a render, and assuming it produces errors then go to Help>Troubleshooting>View Log file, scroll to the end, and look for error messages - are there any?
Thank you Jaderail I too had to leave last night but I will definitely try that tonite when I get home . I have a 2 hour function to attend tonite so I will have this online at least by Friday. Again my thanks
Just wanted to let you know I've had a little hick up with my system which I'm addressing today so hope to talk with you on the weekend . I have discovered a lot through you and I do think you have me on the right track so if all goes well today will be back on track. Shouldn't be to bad since I work in computer repair.

As with my lost plugin post problem solved. A slowly dying hard drive was the culprit and after a complete reinstall to a new drive alls working and looking as it should . The render below is simple one light one camera one actor one backdrop and took 10 seconds. Only one issue popped up and that is my root catagories chart has one and a half columns off screen and I have no idea how to shrink it down or scroll it. It's the column with all the wardrobe functions .Any thoughts ? Once again I thank Jaderail and Rich Haseltine for their assistance on the last subject and sorry to put you through a dead hard drive.
Can I get a screen capture of your problem screen? It should have a scroll bar I think if it is the section I'm thinking of.
