? Does Daz Studio have a shadow catcher function?

If I render a scene separately, can I insert it as a background and then create a shadow catcher for an individual element such as the side of a vertical tree trunk?  I don't just want to control shadows on horizontal ground.

Don't know about IRay, but if you need help to set it up in 3Delight, let me know.

    Use the Matte Function.

    Thank you, one and all.

Fishtales, the second video is exactly what I want to do, perfect.  yesyes

However, I am not familar enough with Daz Studio Scripts to follow along at every point.  I'm missing a crucial step at about the 1:20 mark where the script is executed and they go to the surfaces tab.  My interface doesn't look the same.  Probably my unfamiliarity with Studio.  I'm on the right track now and should be able to sort it out.  Thanks again.

    I have used it

you get an extra function in the parameters it could be by visibility rather than in the shader tab (am not on my PC) after applying the script on that object that you can check

make sure you have advanced view checked

Just double-click the file, as you would for a preset - the fact that it's a script doesn't make any real difference on the user's side.
