LIE Preset question - is it absolute?

l_stowel_stowe Posts: 165

Hi there,

Apologies if this question has been answered somewhere else. I've searched in the forums but could find anything easily. Could someone tell me if a layered image preset references to a texture file using absolute references? I'm planning on making some freebie LIE presets, but wanted to know if I'd need to edit the duf file so it doesn't refer to my drive letter?

Thanks
Luke

If the texture files used are located in a DS content directory it should use relative paths.

I edit the .duf file to reference only the LIE texture to add to whatever base the user has applied to the figure.  If you open the .duf file, it will reference the base figure (or whatever skin material/texture you has on the figure at the time of creating it) such as Genesis 8 Female/Male.  If you had another character skin on the figure when you saved the LIE preset, and the end user doesn't have it in their library, they will get the 'Textures Missing' error everytime they load the LIE preset.

The blue line shows you where I changed the reference from G8M Base (Since you have to have a skin to apply/save LIE presets) to the LIE texture file in the product.

Now, I dunno if it *has* to be done for freebies, so if you want to make sure no one gets that nasty "you're missing textures" notice, I'd use the base model textures in saving presets.

It should be relative, assuming the images are in mapped directories.

It sounds like a fairly straightforward task, thanks. I was struggling before to view the file, but I realize now that when the duf file is compressed it's impossible to view using notepad. So that will help me out. Thanks for your advice! You've all been a big help
