..this is part of the reason why, when I was advised to just create a new account while I was having all the trouble with my saved sign in in months ago, I mentioned I really didn't want to do so. I still have a fair amount of older Poser Runtime content that hasn't been downloaded after a drive crash wiped everything out a while back, and only plan to install if I need it for a scene (I have a custom categorised setup and it takes time to direct where I need Library, MAT, and Pose files to go),  I certainly don't want to deal with everything I've already installed showing up in the Ready to Download Tab again.

Hope you get it figured out.  Mine did that yesterday but it fixed itself BUT I have not tried the new Content thing.  All I did was hit cancel on the window that popped up checked my file paths to make sure they were correct and then hit refresh and it all went back like it was suppose to.  I did not open DS at that time so I have no idea if it was showing anything or not.

DIM has a ManifestFiles folder, default path is "C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles".  It uses the .dsx files in there to keep track of what is installed (one .dsx file per installed zip).  Check what's in that folder.

Looks like it got renamed. That "r" belongs to the Manage(r) preceding it.

If everything is still in its original install location, you can move the manifest files back where they were and DIM will see them the next time. Configure DIM to use the original folder locations for downloads (Package Archive and Thumbnail Archive) and Manifest Archive. I presume the library has not moved...

Hmmm... an 'r' tunneling from one side of the '/' to the other sounds like a quantum effect*.surprise  But the more likely explanation is a fat-fingered entry of a path name.  At any point during installation did you have to reenter the path name?  If not, then blame someone else.enlightened

    * Similarly:  "spoots" could be a case of quantum entanglement.devil

    I'd suggest the same.

Just reset the paths in DIM/DS to match the ones you were using (obviously customised at some point).

What does the Content Library show? Just the 52 new ones, or more?

I cannot get my content back into DS. The icons are there, but they are BW with the install symbol. I changed the directories to my custom ones, but it still not working.

That must be Smart Content?  The Content Library only shows icons for things that are installed.  How does that look?

I rarely use content library except mainly for stuff from other stores. I dislike the structure a lot. serious pain. I can see why DAZ decided to come up with a new system, as this is totally ridiculous to use. i can never find my stuff in content library.

Yes, the Content Library is a mess but I prefer it to Smart Content, so I'm working on my own system for cataloging my products.  It just requires the ManifestFiles or the install files (permanently or temporarily downloaded) for the products, to work.  You can create groups of products and locate any product in DS, both in the DAZ and Poser libraries, instantly, with a couple of clicks.

In DIM is there a check mark next to all the installed items? The checkmark means they are in smart content. A lot of times my content fails to make it to smart content and I have to uninstall and reinstall but if it's EVERYTHING, there may be a better way. I have several items (new G8 & G3) that for some reason refuse to install in smart content through DIM.

..yeah I don't use Smart Content either. Not paid to be a database manager when the DB becomes corrupted (which happens from time to time).  I've used a custom setup for years long before ther  was a DIM and Smart Content. because of the lack of a consistent naming convention and how things were organised in the old runtime structure Also "Mat". files usually ended up in the pose folder which seemed ridiculous and then there were so many permutations like "mat [name]", "mat.[name]", "mat_[name]", "!mat [name]", and so on.  These should have all been in the  "Materials" folder and one naming format used.

I basically made all the "mat" folders in the Runtime/Library folder a subset of the particular content they belonged to like is done in the newer Daz/Library folder.  As long as the actual texture, geometry, and data files were in the in their proper folders anything in the Runtime/Library folder could be arranged however one saw fit.

I don't know why, but I never have the problem with DIM that others seem to have and I even have custom paths set up. The only problem I ever have with Install Manager is DIM itself. Every time it wants to update itself, it stops working and drives me nuts until I can get it reinstalled ;).

daveso's troubles came after trying the new DAZ Central. That's a known problem for many people. DIM & Smart Content are good ideas. But the excecution failed. DAZ created utilities/features that require data programming skills to cope with them. Maybe DAZ forgot that many of us just want to make art?!

daveso, I wish you the best of luck.

yes., a check mark. Most of the products are in smart content but none of them are installed. the icons are black and white with that install circle thing on it. I did a couple of them, but when you need 4000 items to be installed like that, its going to take some time.

I'm of a notion to uninstall everything. All the directories folder, etc ..the program, and even flush the registry to make sure nopthing is left over.
Then do a custom install again, using my data drive, and the programs on my C:drive, which is SSD. THat's the wa I had it but that new DAZ Central thing changed everything, added new directories, and there must be some hidden ones I'm not finding.,

Either way i do it, its going to be a long haul.

Don't forget, Smart Content is all about metadata. No metadata, no Smart Content. Bad metadata, bad Smart Content. The Content Library will show everything that is physically installed in the library folders that you have specified in DIM and Studio, regardless of the state of the metadata. Does the content in the Content Library show the usual content-type flashes in the upper right-hand corner? (i.e., Wardrobe, Accessory, Prop, Material(s)). If not, the metadata is absent, so it needs to be re-imported using Content DB Maintenance. Not 100% sure this will cure the installed-or-not situation, but the metadata does define the Product for the database (shown in the Product view alphabetical list). Usually, once the library reference is restored, all that info is also restored, since databases don't usually let go of information unless told to.

Yes Actor, Wardrobe, Materials, etc. Just to be sure, it is there on all files, even for products that are showing as Not Installed? (Except those that never had any, like old Poser products, and lots from before DS 4.0 that hasn't been updated since).

All the metadata is in Runtime/Support. All those .dsx files are the metadata for each product file. This is the folder that the Re-Import Metadata function will use by default (in the current library) so there should be nothing to change (not sure what to do with multiple libraries). When you start, it will populate the list of Products to load. At 6000 products, it will probably take 15-20 minutes to find them all, and then another 40-60 minutes to actually load the data once you Accept. (I only did it once, and I remember it took forever, but time is longer when you're waiting for something).

If you have previously saved User Data, this is the time to include it.
