Genesis 8 occupies 5,8GB of RAM

Hi. I have a big problem with Genesis 8 female. I state that I have a QX9650 3GHz, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 PRO and a GTX750TI 2GB.
when I load Genesis 8 female, the PC takes about 8 minutes to load, but the worst thing is that dazstudio.exe occupies 5.8 GB of RAM, with Genesis 8 naked, I cannot load even one shoe or I saturate the RAM memory. I tried to remove all textures, bump and normal, but to no avail.
I believe, 99%, that the problem is all the preloaded morphs of the various characters (Victoria 8, Gia8, all the DAZ and Renderosity characters that I purchased).
Is there no way to download all morphs? The only thing I would like is a Genesis 8 with HeadMorph, BodyMorph and ExpressionMorph preloaded for both male and female.
Also, when I clean up the scene, the PurgeMemory script brings me 5.8 to 2.3 GB of RAM instead of 240 MB as it should be.
How do I solve? i can't buy NASA computer !!!

In addition, Genesis 3 female, takes 3 minutes and occupies 1.6GB of RAM.
The PurgeMemory from 1.6GB to 740MB of RAM when I clear the scene.
Genesis 3 also has the problem of "duplicate formulas found in file" which I will solve later.

At the moment with Genesis 8 I can't do anything!
Thanks I hope you can help me.

  • The first suggestions is going to be to upgrade your systems ram.

Barring that, the only viable solution is to do a split, manual, installation.

This will, almost entirely, remove the ability to use DIM and Daz connect for installation, and possibly Smart content.

You'll need to uninstall everything genesis related, this includes base, characters, morphs, expressions, scripts and plugins.

Anything that adds dials to genesis.

Then setup a set of folders for this process, see image 1

Textures and non morph data, clothing, hair, geographs can go into a common data folder, such as "Anatomy" folder(shown below), but all morphs for said anatomy go into a seperate folder. see image 2

In this case the clothing folder has every morph data file seperated into it's own folder. the accual asset data(geometry) goes into the parent folder.

For ease installation, i simply extract the ZIP using the, right click on file(s), "extract to (folder name)" or "extract each archive to a seperate folder" from winrar or 7zip, see image 3.

The contents are then moved from the content folder to the appropriate folder.

The data folder gets moved to the folder created by the extraction process, see image 4, with all other folders being placed in the textures parent folder, and working(the files you click on) placed in associated working directories.

whether you choose to maintain the IMxxxxxx-xx, or as i did in image 4, cut it down to just the identifying information for the asset, is up to you.

For working directories i recommend either seperating the items that include morphs or indicating on their particular folder that they have morphs.

In my case all expressions that have morphs have their own directory under the expressions folder, see image 5

All clothing items with morphs, including foot pose morphs, have a (m) at the end of the folder name, see image 6.

For any link files, or other organization methods, i also rename that file to have a (m) at the end.

When working in DS, you'll either need to decide which items you want to have available by mapping in CDM(Cotent directory manager) before you start, or when the need arises, saving and reloading(via merge) the particular character. Save as a scene subset in this case. See image 7

This will also require a bit of work to do, as you'll want to keep your working files always available, and the morph data seperate.

In my case i have empty directories for breaking up the various base meshes, then map the most necessary and most often used data folder/files, under the base section, then adding in the scene specific data at the bottom of the directory list. See image 8.

There are several additional drawbacks to this method

    1. adding/removing morphs(mapping in CDM) and save/reload will take time.

    2. Many items may not work properly unless you have them in the default directories, so you'll need to test items to determine what does and does not work.

    3. CDM may take a few seconds to a few minutes to update when new directories are added, ds will "hang" during that time.

    4. Almost anything with a post script load, such as brows or lashes, won't work if they script is pulling on the default directory layouts as folder names won't match.

Honestly after having switched over to this method, i'm way more cognizant of what assets i've got, what i'm working with and choices i make for my scenes.

There is an absolute ton of stuff i've gotten over the years i found out i basically never use.

I feel your pain lol. I recently wiped out my entire female directory and did a super picky install again. Took me about a month to finish, because I decided to reorganize the file structure in the library too, like I put categories inside clothing folder and sorted the clothes I reinstalled into them. "Normal Clothes" Fantasy Clothes" Skimpy Clothes", things like that. I just finished installing like 30 mins ago. G8F now loads in about 2 mins, and takes about 2gb RAM. Faster load, and I can find stuff easier, should speed up my artwork workflow at least.

you can temporarily move the morph folders in data before loading

or rename them adding a bak so the content loader doesn't find them

for the moment in this way, I have renamed the Morphs folder to Morphs_tmp, created a new Morphs in which I have inserted only the basic morphs of Gia, London, Victoria etc.
Now it loads in about 3 minutes and does not exceed 800 MB.
then I create the scene, save it with textures for the skin and then move the morph that interests me to the right folder and apply the morph.

For the moment, it's better, then I'll make a new MyLibrary2 with a little more criteria. I also find it difficult to find clothes by category.

    Thank you all
