Geneva hair not compatible with G8F?

Hi all,

I am trying to use the Geneva hair (https://www.daz3d.com/geneva-hair) on Genesis 8.

However the hair remains stiff no matter which dials I change.

I know that this product was originally created for Genesis 3 but so far the auto-follow always has done a good job when I used products from earlier generations on G8.

Does anyone know a trick to fix this issue?

AutoFollow removes custom bones, which are presumably how the tail was posed - cancel the fitting and instead parent the hair to the head.

Thanks, I was not aware that autofollow functions this way.

Parenting the hair to the head seems to solve the issue.

And the adjustment morphs of the hair should cover most custom head morphs.

Alternatively, use the techniquye set out here: https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Tutorial-Convert-Clothing-G3-to-G8-G8-to-G3-686682065

    • Load G8F
    • Make sure nothing is selected and load Geneva Hair
    • Select the hair, and choose Edit > Object > Scene Identification...
    • Change the preferred base from G3F to G8F
    • Accept, and fit the hair to the G8F. It won't autofit or lose any bones, because it now thinks it's a native G8F hair

Wow, now that's an IT trick I'll have to keep in mind! laugh

    Thanks a lot, Chris!
