Ghost Light problem

OK, basically i'm following a tutorial on creating ghost lighting. Everthing is going as it should except for one thing. With my enviroment set to scene only and my large ghost light just above the figure, in Nvidia Iray mode everything remains black, but if I render the image it shows the figure lit correctly lit. How can I get to see the image in Nvidia Iray going back and forth to render to make adjustments eventually causes the program crash.

By default the nVidiia Iray preview uses Interactive mode, which doesn't render emissive surfacs (among other things). You can change this to Photoreal in the Draw Settings pane while the preview mode is active.

Skip the Iray preview mode and just render a small version to check lighting. You shouldn't have to wait long to see what the lighting will be. Also if you keep the small render window open, it won't take much Vram and the subsequent renders will be faster since the geometry won't be reloaded to the GPU.
