Question about spotlights

Hello ;)

I got a question about spotlights in daz studio.

I have the impression that the light only comes in this area (the area circled in red in the screenshot).
It's possible to increase the size of this area ?

Thank you ;)

In Iray you can select the light and adjust its  shape through the Parameters pane. 3Delight doesn't have an equivalent, but thre is a shadow softness setting that will mimic at least one aspect of an extended source to an extent.

You mean the "Light Geometry" setting ?

    I think that is wrong.

The Spread Angle under the Light property of the spotlight controls how wide the light cone is. This is the outer circle, not the inner one. No light falls outside the outer circle, but the light gradually gets brighter, until it reaches full brightness somewhere, which may be near the inner circle or it may not. The inner circle has a spread angle of less than 12 degrees, and does not appear to be controllable. This is easy to see if you choose the spotlight as the viewport camera.

The default for the Spread Angle is 60. If you want it to be about the inner circle, set it to 12.

(You may need to set it quite a bit more than 12, like 24 or 30), because it gets pretty funky when it is set too low.)

There’s another setting called Beam Exponent that I haven’t spent much time with, but I believe it essentially concentrates the light within the smaller circle if you crank it up.

I tried changing the Beam Exponent, to see if it changed the size of the smaller circle, but it didn't. I didn't bother to check the effect it had on the scene.

I tried it too. It produced a more concentrated bright area at the centre as I increased the setting.
