What is the latest version of Daz Studio?

What is the latest version of Daz Studio? I am confused because I just downloaded the program two days ago, from the Daz site, and I seem to have version 4.12 Pro. When I look for information about the Alembic exporter plug-in, though, it says I must have 4.6 or above. I have seen other references to 4.9.  In the Daz version system, is "4.12" like saying "four and then twelve"?

yes 4.12 is four dot twelve, which of course is higher than four dot six. The latest release channel version of Daz Studio as of today is 4.12.1.117. There is a beta version 4.12.2.6 available which fixes some annoying user interface issues in 4.12.1.117.

So I guess Daz uses hexadecimals for its version numbering? 4.12 is not higher than 4.6 in the decimal system, but oh, well. Thanks for the clarification.

12 is a larger number than 6. Each section of the version is independent. The version number consists of 4 parts, each separated by a dot. This is not a decimal number.

Software releases follow a particular versioning scheme that allows the development team to identify differences between builds (versions) of the software. If you really want to dig into it, this Wikipedia article covers it pretty well. In a nutshell, what Barbult said is accurate - each portion of the version number, separated by a decimal, indicates a different kind of development iteration and is incremented independently.
