I keep getting this message while trying to use Genesis... I'm so very sick of it. I've bought so much Genesis & Genesis 2 - and just cannot get it going right. I've started from scratch doing what someone said about removing everything - did it. And yet - still not right.
I'm now - after years of faithful using Daz Studio waaaay back from beta - am about to give up on it completely, start using Poser and stick with Generation 4 - V4 - M4 - because since all the changes made surrounding Daz Studio, new installation process and Genesis - I've had nothing but a headache and discouragement.
Never had these issues before. Simply put, I don't have the time to keep coming back to it over and over again with the same results.
Tried to open Boris that I bought a while ago - and this is the message I'm getting. M6 - opens the same. I own all the Head & Body morph packages of Genesis 2 - female and male - but neither works for me. Man have I wasted TIME and MONEY!

:down: The above is what I get no matter what Genesis 2 male character I open - M6 - Boris - or the other cats - I get the basic male and NO morphs or means to alter it AT ALL - morphs no where to be found.
Looks to me like your Genesis 2 Male is missing (Boris requires it to work). Have you downloaded and installed the "G2M Starter Essentials" from your Product Library or via the DAZ Install Manager?
In fact I would have expected to see M6 in that list (if you have him) and the basic Genesis Male - which suggests you either:
- Haven't installed Genesis Starter Essentials either
- or installed the Starter Essentials into a different library which DAZ Studio isn't seeing
- or your CMS is bust (it does happen sometimes).
Could you perhaps post a screenshot of your Content Library setup (I think it's from Edit - Preferences but I'm not on my DAZ Studio machine at the moment)?
Also which version of DAZ Studio are you using?
Yes - I have done all of that. AND installed it into the SAME runtime - I don't get it. I have done this over and over again. Thing is, I'm not a newby at this. I've been doing it since 2005 - and I had NO problems with the initial Genesis - it's Genesis 2 that is giving me the biggest headache.
I had everything loaded on my old harddrive when I was in England and all was working. Flew to America and my old harddrive took a whipping. Thankfully - I'd always backed up my drives. Got to America - took computer in for repair - they had to replace the harddrive.
Brought it home - installed the old content with Generation 4 - which was in a separate runtime from Genesis. Not thinking there would be a problem - I began reinstalling Genesis & purchasing Genesis 2 to do the same.
Have been in HELL ever since. No problems with my backed up drive and Generation 4 stuff - but no luck at all now with Genesis or Genesis 2. I can't believe it. I have always LOVED using Daz Studio - never had any serious issues with it. Now - I don't know this program and cannot figure out this problem to use Genesis - which I LOVE by the way - but - looks like I'm going to have take a loss on it and go back to V4 and M4.
I have LOADS of ALL the shapes and morphs for Genesis - V5 - M5 - Girl 5 ALL OF IT - can't use ANY of it now! Breaks my heart. I started investing in the next generation as well, Genesis 2 with all it's new stuff - NO chance, money down the drain so far. Plans are mine to buy an Apple iMac - and then from a totally fresh start I will try it again - while praying. if it doesn't work then, I'm cutting my ties to Daz Studio completely - put my focus on Poser Pro 2014 and Generation 4 - because I'm at a loss of what to do. It's not supposed to be this hard. It was never this hard before - it's all the changes that have been made.

Ah, did you convert your CMS databases to this PostgreSQL thing that the thread about the new release keeps talking about? (Thread at http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/41482/ ) I haven't upgraded to that release yet, but maybe if you have converted this has done something to your Content Library? DAZ people hang around in that thread - may be worth asking for help there?
I did a database RESET and then after that a Re-import - I'm getting giddy - Boris is THERE I'm like WHAT? WHOA - be still my heart, I may have worked it out, MAYBE I'm too scared right now to believe it's fixed, but that's certainly promising!
This is just a quick peak to show I finally got Boris to be BORIS - the best male to be produced in a long time! I love that rough ruggedness of his skin, and his not so perfect look - VERY masculine.
Dare I hope that I MIGHT be back! I'm nervous with shakes - because it's ONLY Boris, I haven't tried M6 yet or the Gen 6 women I bought.
Glad to see you got it working. Seems like an odd error message to give you if it was a CMS issue though, especially if the files are actually there.
Great! I hope they're all back and working now.
I've had to rebuild my CMS several times as it became corrupted for some reason (though as I said I'm not on the latest release, which may or may not be more stable).
Always worth a try! :)
