How to load a prop into active viewport instead of at origin?

I find this terribly annoying and it must only be because of my lack of knowledge. It must be possible to force load a prop (eg. person, table or ghost light) into the active viewport?
Right now my props all load at the "origin" and it's such a hassle having to locate it and then to bring it to where I wish it to be.

Can't remember the key to use offhand, but I think it's holding down Alt while dragging the item from your Content Library -- a target will appear in the viewport, release the item when it's at the right spot.

Also take a look at mcjComeHere and the rest of his wonderful scripts for Daz Studio.
