How to Custom Rig a Character (Having problems using the joint editor - cannot do tutorial)
So I wanted to rig a custom character I have. I found this tutorial here:
I watched it, seemed straight forward enough - until I tried to actually do what they say in the tutorial.
Using the joint editor tool I can create bones and move them into position with the green controls but not the red ones. In the tutorial it shows you just click and move the bones into position but when I try to do that with the red control, I can move the point wherever I'd like but the bone itself just moves up and down only and grows or shrinks.
Additionally, I cannot get the 'snap to end point' to work either, also shown in the tutorial. It snaps to the vertical position but not the horizontal.
I feel like I'm missing something really obvious but I can't figure it out. I couldn't find anything online about what I'm doing wrong and the video of course has no sound.
Attached are images from the video I was trying to replicate, and images of what actually happened attempting it in Daz 3D.
If someone could help me figure out what I did wrong or could point me to another tutorial that works better, I'd much appreciate it. I've looked around for custom rigging in Daz 3D but couldn't find much.A few I did find were a lot more confusing or didn't seem to work as well. Pretty new to the joint editor tool as well so if there is something well documented for that I can learn from I'd find it helpful too. :D
Thanks! :)

Rigging is an advanced item to figure out for sure.
This set of tutorials is very helpful. There is one tool that has changed name since it was written, so from whatever it was called, it's now the Geometry Editor tool. They do go on sale now and then and I wouldn't be surprized if the first one shows up in the next catch-up sale at the end of this month's sales.
The first one to start with is this one and it comes with the figure to rig :-)

In addition there are a few other rigging tutorials both in the store and for free over at YouTube.com. Those tend to target specific actions.
@Catherine3678ab Thanks for this, I'll keep an eye out for them during sales. :)
I also found another youtube one that focuses more on weight mapping so maybe I can get around this bone issue I'm having. Just nervous though because if there is a function I need to click and drag and it won't allow me I might still get stuck. :/
I know there's some problems with moving the bones around, don't know why either. Was trying to rig a geograft and had to give up on it for now. Could not get all the end points to move properly either.
One of those 3 tutorials at least is in today's sales :-)

@Catherine3678ab Oh! At least I know I'm not going crazy then. Thought I might have imagining/missing something when trying to move the bones around. XD
