How do I use HDRI Lighting?

DDCreateDDCreate Posts: 1,398

I downloaded some free HDRI's and am trying to use one. My problem is that in the viewport, the scene out th window is how I want it, but when I render, it's the HDRI scene.(please see attached) It was my understading that if I set the HDRI in the Environment Map drop down, Dome only in Env Mode and Infinite Sphere with Ground in Dome mode, I would be able to use the light but not have to worry about the picture. Does anyone see what I'm doing wrong or maybe what else I need to do?

If you only want the light from the HDRI then set Draw Dome to off.

It was off in that picture. That's part of the reason I'm scratching my head.

I didn't notice that. Set Draw Ground to off and Infinite Dome only, no ground, as it looks like the image outside the window goes below the ground pane so it will be cut off at ground level by the dome ground.

Ha! Looks like that worked! Sorta. See on the left? That's a mirror. The mirror is still picking it up. What is up with THAT?! Dang mirror has a minf of it's own. I tried a different mirror shader but both did the same thing. Any clue what's causing that?

I take it the picture outside the window is a backdrop? If it is then the reflection is looking past the end of it and it isn't in view.

Actually, it's a picture that I set in the Environment Tab.

There wont be an edge then :) I'm sorry I have no more ideas on this one.

I set up a scene and I think we have found something that hasn't been documented. Images used in the Environment/Backdrop don't reflect in mirrors :)

Ahhh, well then that would explain it. Thank you for looking into it. I decided to smoke the glass and just move on with my life :P
