The checkerboard iis showing the areas which lack anything to render - if you save as a Tiff or PNG they willl be  transparent, or unselected in the alpha channel, if you save in a format like JPG that doesn't support masks they willl be filled with black.

The quickest way is to right-click on Poser Formats in the Content Library pane, select Add runtime Directory, and select the folder that contains the Runtime folder (e.g. Poser 11 Content)
