In the Content Library tab, are Products and Categories listed at all? If they are, is there anything under Categories (even empty folders)?

That sounds like postgreSQL isn't running, or is being blocked by Kaspersky. If you launch Task Manager while DS or DIM are open, you should see about 7 instances of postgres.exe under Processes. Do they show?

If you close DS and launch DIM, does postgres.exe show in processes?

I don't know what Kasperky's interface is like, but there should be a place to specify programs to allow to communicate with local ports, or a log of recently blocked programs so you can allow them.

I have the same problem with no Smart content visible after downloading and installing PostgreSQL. I am using Windows 7.

I suspect it is caused by PostgreSQL expecting to find the relevant files in the C:\users\public\documents\DAZ 3D\Studio folder rather than in my personal C:\users\Kevin\documents .... folder. My computer is used by others besides myself. Somehow, my DAZ files have been distributed between the two folders, possibly because of the default settings of the DAZ Import Manager when I first used it.

I do not know what to do.

I do not know what to do.

In DAZ Install Manager, go to Settings (Gear icon in the upper right) > Installation tab, click the plus sign in the lower left, and add the path you wish the content to be installed to. It is advisable to use a separate content folder for DIM and manual installs, but it isn't mandatory. Then just go to the Uninstall tab in DIM, uninstall everything, then go to the Ready to Install tab, click the Show Details box in the lower right, and set the "Content Files Install To" to your new location, and reinstall everything.

In DAZ Studio, go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and expand the DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats sections. Add your new content folder to both.

Note: The products you install with DIM will automatically have their metadata added to the PostgreSQL database. For products installed manually that have metadata, in DS go to the Content Library pane, click the options menu (rectangle with 4 horizontal lines in the upper corner) > Content DB Maintenance > Re-Import Metadata.

    Thanks!

Most of the Smart Content is now visible but not all my Unassigned Preset Poses. Some have a warning triangle with ! inside. When I click on them the following message appears:

    Resource Error
Could not open file ;DAZ 3D/Studio 4/content/Poses/xxx.duf
    File does not exist

where xxx denotes the file name. The files do exist and are in the same folder as the active poses.

I can not see any difference between the "missing" and active files. However, the active files were probably all used relatively recently although not necessarily created or saved recently.

    More help would be appreciated.

Were these items that were left in Unassigned and never categorized?

What is the full path to one of these files?

What is the full path to one of these files?

All the items, active and inactive, were left unassigned and have never been categorized.

The full path for both active and inactive items:

    C:\Users\Kevin|My Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio4\contents\Poses

Most of the DAZ files are in the following directory:

    C:\Users\Kevin|My Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\

That is, there is both a Studio and a Studio4 folder. I do not know why but think it has something to do changes in names during earlier DAZ Studio updated versions.

If you didn't categorize any items or create your own metadata, then the easiest way to get everything back is:
    1) Content DB Maintenance > Reset Database
    2) Content DB Maintenance > Re-Import Metadata
    3) Scan Known Directories for Files

Thanks once again. I seem to have trouble keeping up with the changes which keep happening before I have attained competence. One further query, if I may, but not related to Smart Content.

I have trouble opening Michael 4.CR2 using Smart Content, or otherwise. This problem began some while ago, before the recent upgrade and possibly after I reloaded a Michael 4 upgrade using DIM or after a Studio4 upgrade. Possibly, it happened when !DAZ folders first appeared.

Everything loads normally until the following error message appears:

    Unable to locate file
    Cannot find a file for "/My Library/Runtime/libraries/!DAZ/Michael 4/Body/00-ps_mr477-DAZ_Chnnls.pz2".
To avoid seeing this message, make sure that the Poser content directories are set up correctly.

When the Locate button is clicked it opens in "/My Library/Runtime/libraries/Character/DAZ People

Many more files that "cannot be found" all exist. They can be manually located and then load automatically. If skipped, Michael still appears on screen although he cannot be morphed.

Later during the automatic loading, the message

    Unable to locate file
    Cannot find a file for "/My Library\Runtime/libraries/!DAZ/Michael 4/Deltas/Base/InjDeltas.PHMEyeCorneaBulge.pz2".
To avoid seeing this message, make sure that the Poser content directories are set up correctly

And many more. The files that cannot be found exist and can be manually located and then load automatically.

When the Locate button is clicked it opens in /My Library/Runtime\libraries/!DAZ/Michael 4/Deltas

Uninstalling and then reinstalling Michael 4, Morphs++ and the Powerloaded using DIM has not corrected the problem and did not modify the CR2 file.

    Michael 4.CR2, created 20/11/2008 is located C:\Users\Kevin\My documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\Runtime\libraries\Character\DAZ People

Excerpts from the DAZ Studio log:

    Importing File...
    Importing Michael 4.cr2 ...
Reading blMilMan_m4b.obj [located in the Runtime\Geometries\DAZPeople folder]
    Warning: Could not find file :My Library:Runtime:libraries:!DAZ:Michael 4:BODY:00-ps_mr477_DAZ_Chnnls.pz2 on line 6 in :/Users/Kevin/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/Runtime/Libraries/!DAZ/Michael 4/M4BODYChnnls.pz2
    etc.

    Importing File...
    Importing PowerLoader.pz2 ... [located in My Library\Runtime\libraries\!DAZ\Michael 4\Deltas]
Warning: Could not find file :My Library:Runtime:libraries:!DAZ:Michael 4:Deltas:Base:InjDeltas.PHMEyeCorneaBulge.pz2 on line 7 in C:/Users/Kevin/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/Runtime/libraries/!DAZ/Michael4/Deltas/PowerLoader.pz2
    etc.

I presume my Poser Runtime directory is not set up correctly. What do I need to do to fix it?

    Thanks.

    The locations you listed earlier:
    C:\Users\Kevin|My Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio4\contents\
    and
    C:\Users\Kevin|My Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\

don't match the location in the error message:
    C:\Users\Kevin\My documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library

nor do they match the default install location in DIM.

Can you post these two screenshots:
    1) In DS, Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats"
    2) In DIM, on Ready to Install tab check the "Show Details" box in the lower right

Simple question. Do you have the base content folder listed as a POSER Format content folder in your DAZ Studio paths? If not DAZ Studio will not read the Poser content at all. See below for a example...

EDIT: As Mike just pointed out that Path is not mapped at all in your content paths...

You have nested content folders, which is what's making it difficult for DS to locate your content. You should not have both "...Studio" and "...Studio\My Library" listed. If you have other folders besides "My Library" under "Studio", merge them with the corresponding folders under "My Library". Similarly, you should not have "Studio4\Content\Poses" listed, just "Studio4\Content". You should not have "Studio4" listed under Poser formats.

The crucial special folders are Data and Runtime. They must be directly underneath the content folder, e.g. "My Library".

What do you have in the folder "Render Library"? If they are just the rendered images, they should not be listed as a content folder; if they are DS scenes, then they need to be in a DS-format content folder, for example "Render Library" could be a subfolder of "My Library".

What do you have in "My Library DAZ"?

What do you have in “My Library DAZ”? Zipped files down loaded by DIM

Visitors occasionally use my Windows7 PC. I therefore have both "Public" and "Kevin" user directories, the latter is protected by password.

When I first started using DIM, it did not seem to work. I discovered the files were being downloaded to the default C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library. My existing content was located in my private folders. I did not know how to use CDM at the time.

At first, I manually copied the files to my Kevin directory, which was already in a bit of a mess. I had installed content from various sources. Doubtless, I made mistakes as I was not familiar with the optimum directory structure and how to unzip and merge.

Then, noticing the words "Content Files Install To:" in the "DIM details" and not finding an existing C:/Users/Kevin/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library folder, I chose instead C:/Users/Kevin/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library. I now believe this was a mistake. I was mislead by the word "install".

My saved Scene Subsets no longer work properly because of the changed directory structure.

M4 now loads okay. My content directories are looking much tidier. Thanks once again.
