Help wanted with free DForce Dress by Mostdigitalcreations

It's about this dress:

https://www.most-digital-creations.com/g8f_tshirt_dress.php

It's a subscriber freebie, but if you are subscribed anyway, you just fill in your email adresss and get a download link and are not subscribed twice or more times. His newsletters aren't annoying.

When I try to use the Simulation, the dress just vanishes ... ideas?

Oh - this completely free one does the same thing:

I downloaded it to see.  It has problems.  I sent Adam a note.

    Thank you!

I wasn't sure, as I did use Dforce before, but I am not fluent in Dforce ... so it might have been me.

The problem, at least for the dress, is that it isn't rigged - it is just a prop.

Props can have dForce applied, but that's one problem.

Have yoiu tried starting from a memorised zero pose, or going from a zero pose on the Timeline? Rigging isn't needed for dForce items to work as long as the simulation starts without intersection.

First of all thanks to Sevrin for the info via email.

What's happening with those two dForce items is very weird! Two years ago when I created them, they were working fine (as you can see in the thumbnails/promo images).

Those particular items were saved as props so that's not an error, but they weren't and shouldn't be disappearing like that when you run the simulation. I'm also getting exactly the same result.

I'll have a look at them when I can, see if I can find out why that's started happening and update them.

    Thanks.  It's a cute dress.

Thanks for the info, I'll give that a check too.

The issue is that if you use a charatcer different than base G8 female then it will clip from start, and that is the reason the simulation fails.

With a play range simulation (using the Timeline) you can start unmorphed and apply the moprh later, so the cloth can react.

Thank you so much, everybody - especially Adam for creating your beautiful freebies and for willing to work on those older ones again!

  • AdamThwaitesAdamThwaites Posts: 779

No problem Kerya :) Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I'll take a look at those items when I have time and see if I can get to the bottom of what's causing them to disappear when you run the simulation.

I'm guessing it's something to do with a later dForce update and the geometry of those particular items, but I'll see what I can find out.

maybe if you use the transfer utility to fit it to the figure first?

then it should inherit morph shapes

  • AdamThwaitesAdamThwaites Posts: 779

Thanks WendyLuvsCatz, but that shouldn't be a problem. As Richard said, dForce works on props too and you can use the timeline in the way he mentioned.

The cheongsam was saved as and loads as a figure (that works fine), but disappears too when you run the simulation like with the other two items.

    Strange.

All three items are now updated and are working again :)

Wow! That's fast work! Thank you so much for the awesome freebies, Adam!

Do you know what was causing the issue? In case any of us run into this issue in the future with other products (not necessarily any of yours, of course).

Thank you very, very, very much!

    Very much appreciated!

    You're all welcome :)

Since only some of the older dForce items had stopped working properly, I suspected that it was some kind of issue with some of the geometry that a newer version of dForce didn't like.

It also seemed to have nothing to do with whether the item was saved as a figure or a prop and so I decided to remesh each item and set them up again and that worked.

If you happen to come across an issue with any of my stuff, please drop me a line at the email address on my site so I can sort it out as quickly as possible.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. Happy rendering! :)
