Categories gone with New Update

Since the recent update, all the Categories I have created are gone and I can not find a way to restore them. It took hours to build my Victoria 4 Category. I would hate to have to go through that all again.

Did you isntall the PostgreSQL database, and is it running (check Task Manager on Windows while DS is open - unlike the old CMS it doesn't run as a service all the time). If it is, did you "install" the PostgreSQL CMS From Valentina Conversion, assuming that you installed PostgreSQL? If not try that - it should convert your old database to a form the new CMS will read (leaving the old database untouched). If that fails you can try uninstalling PostgreSQL, with DS closed, then launch DS and from the Content Library option menu (button in the top corner, or right-click the tab) choose Content DB Maintenance and then check the Export User Data option. Then close DS, reinstall PostgreSQL, restart DS and go to Content DB Maintenance again, this time choosing to Reimport metadata.

I did not install the PostgreSQL database. I did not know that I had to. I just let DIM install the new Studio update and I did not see any additional prompts.
How do I install this PostgreSQL database? Where do I get the installer? Where do I get the PostgreSQL CMS From Valentina Conversion?

Just for my own information, was all this suppose to be included in the update? I did not see any information about needing to do anything additional with this update.

Just an additional piede of information - I cannot create any NEW categories (tried as a test) and Search does not work.

If you have existing categories but can't create new ones, your Valentina database is probably corrupt.

I noticed any folder I had with a non-numeric character in the beginning of the name moved from the top of my lists down to the bottom in this build so some of my bigger libraries didn't show them where I expected to see them and I thought they got eaten until I scrolled down to the very bottom of the lists.

    There's a trouble-shooting guide here https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/22523891-Trouble-shooting-the-Smart-Content-Pane

You don't have to switch to PostgrSQL, though reducing database corruption is one of its benefits, I was asking about that as it was the least painful reason not to have any categories.

never mind my link, I've removed it.
I posted a thread from a user who fixed this issue on their end but I see Richard commented on the risks that were taken on their fix and after reading his response I have to agree with him.

In installed the update and the postgre stuff (on a Mac) and my categories disappeared. Got them back by uninstalling postgre.

    I don't think I'll install it again :)

Here is an interesting twist. My content disappeared as well after installing the updates with DIM. It does however still show up in the public beta.

More often than not a User needs to do a Ri-Import of metadata and User data on the first use of the New PosterSQL. Once done it should continue to work properly. I had to do so myself and I now have no issues.

It's very strange that the beta is using PostgreSQL CMS but the release version is not.
